Smart heating script

Hi all,

At the moment, I'm having some events in my domoticz to start heating my house when I leave work. Since a while I'm thinking of a way to make this more intelligent. I want to use the current temparture in my house, to determine at what time my Toon should start warming up. The way I'm thinking to do that, is to deduct the current temparture from the desired temparture and for every 0.5 degree, add x minute of the expected time it takes to warm up my house. Off course I'll have to see what exact values to use. But, if anybody knows a better way to achieve this, I'm open to suggestions.

After that I'll have to think of a way to let Domoticz know how late I'll be home, but there are some ways to do that with Google, but that would be step 2. Now I do have some scripting experience, but not in LUA, or any other language that I can run on me raspberry. So I'm going to need some help to script this. I hope anybody here can help me.

Interesting thought, i had the impression Toon was 'smart'.
But let me give you my thoughts to consider.

Anyway, a normal thermostat like the honeywell chronoterm has an adaptive modus which needs a week to calculate a best effort to heat your house from 18 degrees to 20 degrees. so its able to get your house heated to 20 degrees when you arive at the normal time of 17.00hours. On cold days this takes longer, and shorter on hotter days.

I think its better to run a schedule which is close(r) to the normal time you get home.

I also play with these thoughts, and recently started monitoring my heating with the OTGW. And this gives me a better view on whats happening when the house isn't heated, heating starts and the temperature rising or how long it takes to let the house cool down...

I remember that even the thermostat we had 15 years ago, was able to calculate when to start heating up, to achieve the desired temparture at a specified time. But as far as I know Toon does not have this option. The time I arrive home is different evevery day, but I already have some proper scripts to regulate this. I'm only struggling with how to control my Toon at this momennt.

Anyway, as i dont have one, ot can be controlled with a setpoint and it knows the temperature?

As you already have some remote actions, look at a post from me yesterday. Its a bash script which evalutes temp and setpoint, and switches a switch on/off according to the're equal or not. That is a simple if-then which you can modify to your liking...
