3-Way Switches like GE 12727
I am new to Z-Wave and have started with a couple of wall switches from GE. They are working fine in a single switch configuration but I'm wondering if they are a good fit for a typical 3-way switch setup. First, it looks like the switch will only function properly on one side of the 3-way setup, the side which is connected to the house hot wire (black). The other switch doesn't have a constant hot wire. So that being said, even if I did install the smart switch in the correct location it seems like it would never really know if the light was off or on. It depends on the position of the other switch right? Is there any way to address this?

Re: 3-Way Switches like GE 12727
Just thought I would post the answer to this which I finally figured out. GE makes a 12728 switch which is designed to be used in conjunction with the 12727 in a 3-way application. It can't be used by itself as it has no Z-wave components. It just actuates the 12727 via the traveler wires. So instead of a SPDT switch at each end you have a single powered Z-wave switch and a remote switch that activates it if needed. Nice thing about this is up is always ON for these switches unlike a traditional 3-way where at any given time one of them is ON when the switch is down.

Are they in Th list:

Hi,
i don't know your wiring, but maybe it is possible to go for mono-stable switches and wire your switches to one central (flush mounted) zwave switch / dimmer triggering the light.

What I like about my mono-stable setup is that I can trigger at least 3 different functions with one switch (single click, double click, click and hold).

According to that list, the support for the GE 12724 3-Way Dimmer Switch was added 4 months ago but none of the others are there.Derik wrote:Are they in this list:

The GE 456xx line of products (dimmers, switches, etc.) has now been replaced with the GE 127xx line. Same products with different packaging for consumer and commercial customers. I can't add the new GE "12718 Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Lamp Module with Dimmer Control" I just bought. Though it's control variables are identical to the GE 45602 Lamp Dimmer Module that it replaces they are not visible in Domoticz because it doesn't exist in the OZW database. It's currently recognized by the ZStick as "GE Unknown: type=5044, id=3031". I tried to give the folks at OpenZwave a heads up about this but Justin Hammond got snarky with me when I couldn't provide the product type and ID of all the new 127xx products. I don't represent GE and I certainly don't own all these devices. Give me a break!
I imagine using GE 127xx anything will be problematic until this is addressed. The 456xx line is mostly gone from Amazon and the 127xx is all that is available.

The GE12727 works fine with Domoticz. It's just a switch so there's nothing fancy about it. Pair this with a 12728 and you have a fully functional 3-way switch setup.

Are you able to access all of the GE 12727 device parameters? It is "fancy" if you can program it. I was able to easily pair my GE 12718 Plugin Dimmer Module but the type and product ID's are unrecognized in Domoticz so it becomes a "generic" switch with no configurable parameters (variables). That's a fail in my book.atatistcheff wrote:The GE12727 works fine with Domoticz. It's just a switch so there's nothing fancy about it. Look at the OZW website and notice that support for your GE 12727 was added 4 months ago according to their Github notes but no others of that 127xx type. GE is certainly not an obscure brand. I wonder what they're waiting for.

No it just shows up as a simple switch. I am new to this Domoticz and was happy to be able to turn it off and on. If there are more fancy features they are apparently not accessible - yet...Are you able to access all of the GE 12727 device parameters? It is "fancy" if you can program it.
