Not getting KAKU switch to work with RFLink on Synology

Hi,

This week I bought a RFLink transceiver and some KAKU switches to play around with. I am running Domoticz on my Synology DS115 (package from Jumbotroll, currently version 3.5010). The RFLink is recognized immediately, however I cannot add any KAKU switches no matter how I try. I keep getting timeouts when I send a command to the switch.

To make sure that everything is working I attached the RFLink to my Windows PC and installed Domoticz on that PC. Added the RFLink and the KAKU switches were recognized first try! So the problem must be somewhere in my Synology setup.

Below is the log of one of my tries. As you can see the RFLink is sending a command but then it just waits for the timeout, while the switch is in learning mode. I even tried to add the switch on my Windows PC and then (without resetting the switch) add it to my Synology with the same ID, but that did not work as well. So my guess is something goes wrong sending the command from the Synology?

I am not sure what I can do next to investigate or collect more information to solve this problem, so if anyone has pointers on that please shoot. Thanks in advance.

From the FAQ:

Synology NAS:

Q: What do I need to use RFlink on a Synology NAS?

A: If you want to use RFLink with a Synology NAS you can use:
- an Arduino Mega clone based on CH340 USB/serial chip
In all other cases:
- connect a 10 uF capacitor between reset and ground on the Arduino.
Simply stick the pins of the capacitor in the power connector socket.
When you want to update the firmware of the Arduino, remove the capacitor and reconnect it when done.
For details about the Domoticz Synology package check out: http://www.jadahl.com

Did you add the 10uf capacitor?

Hi,

I use this set: http://www.nodo-shop.nl/nl/rflink-gatew ... enne-.html, which contains an Arduino Mega clone that I believe has the CH340 chip (I am not at home right now so I cannot check but the website list the drivers: http://www.nodo-shop.nl/nl/arduino/10-a ... tible.html).

So then I do not need the capacitor?

Problem solved!

I was reading other threads from people having problems with their Synology and that got me examing system logs on my Synology (/var/log/messages). There I found a the following lines that kept on repeating themselves indefinitely.

Code: Select all

Mar 29 21:20:04 synousbmodemd: usbmodem_lib/usbmodem_devicenodehandler.cpp:278 No respond on modem cmd AT+CPIN?
Mar 29 21:20:04 synousbmodemd: usbmodem_lib/usbmodem_simhandler.cpp:50 Warning: sim mute before handler init
Mar 29 21:20:04 synousbmodemd: usbmodem_lib/usbmodem.cpp:481 failed on setup sim handler
Mar 29 21:20:04 synousbmodemd: usbmodem_lib/usbmodem_list.cpp:116 Failed to init info [2004]
Mar 29 21:20:04 synousbmodemd: usbmodem_lib/usbmodem.cpp:709 USBModem [2004] is not inited
After some more googling I found this post: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2620&start=660#p77572. I executed the command from that post and now everything is working fine.

So it seems that the RFLink gateway was not properly recognized by the Synology, although it did show up in Domoticz.
