ONVIF RTSP camera support

Would really like to have ONVIF camera support directly in Domoticz.

ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is a global and open industry forum with the goal to facilitate the development and use of a global open standard for the interface of physical IP-based security products. Or in other words, to create a standard for how IP products within video surveillance and other physical security areas can communicate with each other

With that said, I have no idea how easy/difficult it would be to code and implement this.

exploring installing zoneminder on same pi for its better support of camera and other features. However, just came across the fact that I have to get apache co-existing with Domoticz and not sure how to go about that...

Just setup it listening to other port than domoticz.

+1 for this

I've been looking at replacing an old Samsung DVR with ONVIF cameras and now that I have Domoticz it looks like I could have a good unified interface. But without ONVIF support things aren't great, so I would love it to support this.

I think it is not that easy..
Onvif uses a complicated protocol that has to be implemented in the software/hardware of a raspberry/linux core/others..
But it is not impossible, as so far someone has made a onvif camera from a raspberry, so i guess a client is easier to do :)

Anyway, +1 for the (multi camera) onvif support!

Then we can build our own NVR, and that will open new possibilities ofcourse..
Another option is to import a sort of client software, that support multi camera.
It should be great when there is a on/off button, in domoticz, wich send a "now record" to a camera, when a doorbell is ringing, or a door goes open for example.
Then we don't need a external nvr anymore..
Ofcourse, if you want to do "motion detection" you still need another nvr, because it often uses a lot of cpu.

The second url indeed helped me finding de snapshoturl for my RTSP/ONVIF camera :P
Good tip!
Attention: If your camera uses another port for the ONVIF protocol, don't forget to ad this port to the url in the command.

For the record: Owners of a FunXWE (FS02-0) IP camera can use the snapshot url: http://<Camera_ip>/web/cgi-bin/hi3510/snap.cgi?&-getstream&-sn
(Manufacturer/Model: RTT-5300)
