I got around this by opening Spotify itself once on the same machine..
But later I found I cannot get this to work in my Tablet using Fully Kiosk Browser. I keep seeing the "INVALID_CLIENT: Invalid redirect URL" error, even after I logged in op developer.spotify.com.
It would be very cool if we got this module to work, and extend a little (play music on other device!)

I assume you're using the same url on windows and tablet?
For example, some people are using
http://localhost/dashticz on windows and
http://192.168.1.3/dashticz on another device.

Maybe there is a missunderstanding on my side. At the moment I have to open / or the spotify web api opens Spotify in parallel. Means I have to install on all of the tablets spotify also. My understanding from spotify web api is that should be normaly not needed.

Well, it should open Spotify-app (at least on windows, didnt test on tablet yet).
Playing via browser is not supported by the Spotify API...

Rob, pointed me to this thread. I will check it tonight. Also using Fully Kiosk Browser, did you check any (advanced) settings also?

Hi vgr2,
How did you do to see your playlist finally? I have the button "show playlist" but no popup that opens anything?

Just so that it might help others: if you only created a Spotify account so that you could test this plugin (like I did), please be aware that you indeed first have to actually play something. I created an account, enabled the developer API, created 2 playlists, got the Spotify login page when refresjng Dashticz, but nothing showed when I clicked playlists. Then I installed the Spotify app on my Android tablet (from which I'm now accessing Dashticz), played a song and all of a sudden the plugin appeared in Dashticz!

A possible alternative is using Logitech media server with a Spotify plugin (I use Spotty).
This way you can use a standard mediaplayer block in Dashticz. That way you can use back, stop, play/pause and next buttons.
I also made a selector switch that can choose playlist within Spotty (all manual config unfortunately).
Of course you would need a server to run LMS.

Amazing plugin!
Is it possible to have the following features:
- If you click on "Select Playlists", also show the playlist label (name). Now there is only a album picture showing.
- Is it possible to show the available songs within a playlist? So you can navigate directly to the correct song?
- Is it possible to have a search field to use the search library within Spotify? So we can play songs outside our playlists?
Very pleased to have spotify now within Domoticz, thanks!!
