Re: Create Home alarm system with domoticz
I have got an Benext tagreader and it all works great with entering a code with the keypad.
But I don't get it running with the rfid tags. @alibab: do you use it with rfid tags and can you tell me what I need to do to make it work?
I tried to pair them by pressing Home or Away and then putting them in front of the reader. That seems not to be enough.
Thanks and regards
Willi

Hi,
I don't get it running with the rfid tags too.
I can get the tag code, but can't set it to tag reader.

Thanks for your reply.
Do you know how to setup multiple different Pin Codes for different users?
Or does it only work with the one for all code how you described?
Thanks!

hi,
Yes you can set specific code by user, usez-way in advanced mode for this.
Just select user Id porpertie ( not "all userCodes" option) when you set a code.
But you need to modify the js code to obtain the right user when a code is enter.
I haven't do it....

Hi,
I don't test it but here is a link explanation with tag reader and rfid registration => http://forum.z-wave.me/viewtopic.php?f=3419&t=20551

Re: Create Home alarm system with domoticz
Hi,
Mine alarm isn't that briljant but I think I will work when the time comes and someone will try to open my door. The trick is to scare/suprise the burglar with something he didn't expect.
I have a couple of low costs door sensors: http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2179
I hooked up my PI to telegram and made blocky events that when the door opens, and the alarm is on, it sends me a message(so I know something has happend). Every light in my home goes "on" when the alarm is triggered and my PI "says" the police is being called http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2573
I am now testing the geofancy app with my system so when me or my girlfriend leaves the home the system automatically switches the alarm on.
I am also thinking of adding a sirene... but the last thing that I want, is my girlfriend coming in and having a false alarm and waking the whole street. So this will be something to discuss
Girls and domotica doesn't go so well sometimes

@alibab: you found my thread at the z-wave.me forum
Great news from there - the tags work now!
You need to update the zway software to the brand new version 1.7.2 and then you will be able to use the new SetRaw Command to add your tags.
If the Tag Reader would be added as Domoticz compatible device, everything would be perfect But it works very good this way too.

Re: Create Home alarm system with domoticz
Hello everybody.
It's my first post on this forum. I'm very interesting on your project to do an alarm with domoticz and I have some questions.
I've read that you said it's better to buy a real alarm if it's to have an hardwired alarm system.
Why?
Is it not cheaper to do it yourself or is it for security?
If I want to do an alarm system with hardwired connection, which devices I need?
Thks in advanced for your answers.

Re: Create Home alarm system with domoticz
Also first post for me!
I found that relying on the security state alone is not enough because it doesn't survive occasional domoticz crashes. If you only use the alarm system to send you notifications while you are away that's fine, but for me that's not good enough.
What I found works well is to use a user variable to store the arm state, and then set the system to "arm away" or "disarmed" based on that user variable. When you change the alarm level via keypad or keyfob, always set both the system level and the user variable.
I also moved away from blockly very quickly as I found it to be way too limited. If you want to build an alarm system I recommend you start with lua from the get go.

Re: Create Home alarm system with domoticz
I have never done it so far, but as far as I know, it’s possible. Personally, I would like to choose a system that would work well with domoticz and that could be under my own control. I’ve been asking around about security alarm systems in Melbourne and found these guys http://nationalprotectiveservices.com.au . They’ve offered a whole variety of attractive options, but I still would like to know which kind of system would be the most efficient (and not overly expensive)?
