And a gas (for when I leave the stove on) & smoke detector (when I am to engrossed into my screen and let it burn again). I want to try to put them inside my "afzuigkap/wassumkap" stove ventilation shaft. I do not mind it the sensors break down after 6 months due to greace. Their as cheap as batteries And it's an experiment to begin with. (Maybe by not placing them directly in the flow)...

presence detection is a quite trending topic, and people counting is even more. i believe there are various approachesjuankar wrote:Very interesting Project and pehap a solution for the problema of automatic lights/PIR sensors.
I've read this can detect sense of movement, so it could detect if a person go into or out from a room, so we could know how many persons are in the room and so keeps light on or heater or.... Am I right?
there are some led sensors that can detect if some light beam is broken and eventaully if you have a couple, you can judge which was the direction.. i do not know how reliable this could be implemented.
One thing that is for sure is measuring CO2. I've been experimenting with this as part of my other project and what i can confirm is that in a *closed* room, the co2 does increase with a rate that depends on the number of people inside. if it does not decrease too much or falls down - this means the door/window is open.
and it rises pretty fast.. i believe in 5 min timeframe, the increase would be enough to judge that you have to turn on and off the heating.
of course it is not too perfect - but - when it falls down - it means either people are gone or too many windows are open - in both cases you do not need to heat
and adding a PIR will tell you if the room is empty or occupied. but not how much people are there
if you already have some windows sensors - perhaps you can corrrelate everything

hmm, i saw those in the morning, when i read about the ir sensors, but i somehow fear if you start trusting your security to a device like mine that is - a real flame detector should undergo some tests, etc (that cost 20+k eur)trixwood wrote:And a flame sensor (with little case around the sensor), it's small enough to hide behind my (not build in) fridge and still point at my stove. That could be a neat safety feature next to the smoke sensor in the kitchen.
of course - the sensor will send heartbeats each couple of minutes, so if this is fine for you - i could also include it - it seemed pretty straight forward

in fact i have ~100 VOC sensors lying in a box, and just ordered 10 CO sensors , both types wait for their quality time to get a breakout board designed and tested, but i hope in few months i will have them as well - connectble to the vESPrino or as a nice standalone boxtrixwood wrote:And a gas (for when I leave the stove on) & smoke detector (when I am to engrossed into my screen and let it burn again). Well I have a smoke detector. I would not use uncertified equipment for that. The rest is just for playing. I wanna play with it and give it some logic (& maybe pattern recognition with neural nets).
The smoke sensor or voc could also be used, not for detecting burning food, but depending an the reading maybe...
detect and adjust the perfect egg temperature... using, i do not know, the readings of the sensors and then adjust the gas to the egg frying-pan accordingly... to get the perfect egg?
I have no idea yet. It's to play with It all depends what readings I get when cooking. From there the ideas will come
But I have another normal use-case for the flame sensor:
A lot of people have old fireplaces (you known oldschool no electronicz, with wood blocks you have to add manually It could be used to detect if the fire is dwindling and gives you a sign that you need to add some more wood. (not placing the vesprino in the fireplace ofcourse) Especially handy if you are cooking in the kitchen and come back and it's going out.

ahhh, makes sense!
I ordered now a dozen to give them a try, but it seems pretty straight forward to integrate them
