Domoticz on Raspberry Pi3

Post by bartpl »

Hi All,

I have just installed 4834 version on my Pi3, performed all updates of the os and finally connected via another PC to domotcz dashboard, however I saw that very often Pi has kind of hiccup :-) when I try to change some tabs in dashboard it works very slowly.

I just wondered that meybe this has something to do with the fact that Pi3 is 64Bit and as I understand the version 4834 is 32Bit? Shall I rather first install Raspbian 64bit and then install on top of it domoticz?

I am just starting with domoticz so pls be easygoing with me :-)

Thanks.

I'm a newbe too :P :P

I've seen most of the times issues are related to the browser than to the device...

Try not to use chrome or IE, but firefox witch seems to be more stable.
Be also sure to empty the browser chache

Be sure about:
  • use a class10 microsd card
  • expand the filesystem via raspi-config (the SD card image does not fullfit the SD card space)
  • in domoticz hardware add the motherboard sensor, so you can monitor rbpi temp, cpu load, memory and available space

Thank you. I am using class10 SD. Will play with it today - good point about motherboard monitoring. I suspect,a bit, that CPU was overheated (although I have sticked radiator to it).

But do you think it is better to install Domoticz on Raspbian 64Bit instead of the domoticz SD image 4834 which I suppose is 32bit version?

that's a good question....
as long as all hardware is fully supported (ZWave, X10, RFCOM etc etc) I would think it would be best to instal a x64 enviroment

But IMHO and seeing that on a 32bit base the cpu load does not exceed 5%.... I really do not know if it will make differences :P
