Homebridge and eDomoticz plugin on Domoticz SD card Image

Post by bob »

Some suggestions to those trying to use homebridge (as well as the Wiki maintainer) using the preinstalled homebridge on the recent/current SD card domoticz images (I'm using: domoticz-raspberrypi-sdcard-4834.7z):

The instructions here in the Wiki ( https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Homekit_Siri ) do not work:

The wiki states: “Please note that the current Domoticz SDCard image has this <homebridge> included, and you can jump straight to Configure section.”

The following instructions should not be executed as instructed in that section as they appear to have already been run on the image, the NPM fails and trying to solve drove me nuts:

Leave these out!!
“cd ~/homebridge/”
“npm run start”

Also N.B. on the image the directory for config.json is in a hidden directory "~/.homebridge/" not "~/homebridge/" and was installed under User “pi”.
All you need to do to so start homebridge is enter “homebridge” at the prompt.

Also, the sd image install has the node_modules directory located under /usr/lib NOT /usr/local/lib as is described in most edomoticz and homebridge documentation. This must be taken into account in any config files you may copy from other sources etc.

BTW to update the SD image homebridge install, the following worked for me:
sudo npm update homebridge -g --unsafe-perms
sudo npm update homebridge-edomoticz -g --unsafe-perms

N.B to use "experimental" Blinds device support please find info here: https://github.com/PatchworkBoy/homebri ... /issues/23

BTW2 I had to also install Forever using -g and –unsafe-perms flags for it to install properly on the sd image.

Hi,
Thanks for this information, I have re-installed Domoticz on my Raspberry Pi with the SD card image as well, as spoken in the other topic.
I'm also a little bit confused about the different information available.
I'm now going to re-install again, to start with a clean setup.
How do you install the eDomoticz plugin in the pre-programmed HomeBridge of the SD card image?
