RFlink might support Mi-light and other protocols soon :)

Post by burton666 »

I just saw this info:
For the implementation of additional 2.4Ghz protocols we could use some simple MySensor device or Milight.
For the implementation of additional 868Mhz protocols we could use some devices as well.

That would be pretty great to be able to get rid of the original wifi-bridge with its 4 bulbs/groups limitation. I just donated a few euros to support the rflink team and hope some of you will also.

I almost went with RFXcom at first but now after all te supported devices and fast development of RFlink I am glad to have chosen RFlink. If I understand correctly even Z-wave might be supported in the future.

That would be freaking awesome!

I hope it can send and receive the Mi-light signals so Domoticz can show status of it when using the remote.

My Mi-light wifi bridge just works fine but when RFLink can perform the same task then i choose for RFLink of course!

As I understand it, you'd need a transceiver circuit for each frequency you wish to use. Since the RFLink only support one of those at a time, you'd need 3 RFLink gateways (433MHz, 868Mhz and 2.4GHz), right?

Seems the NRF24L01 2.4GHz transceiver can be used together with one of the other ***Mhz transceivers at the same time?

Indeed Mi-Light/LimitlessLED/Applamp bridge functionality has been added to RFLink.. both receive and transmit are there.. and no limitation on the number of devices..
You will only need to add a NRF24L01 to your RFLink setup, pinout details will be posted together with the release.
The NRF24L01 will run together with whatever RF Module (433/868mhz) you already have on your RFLink.
The release itself will be soon but for now take a bit of time as there are still some things to implement and finalize..

I assumed the pinout details wouldn't be different as the NRF24L01 is already placed at the RFLink Gateway board from the Nodo shop?
I don't have this board, i reuse my good old NES for it so i have to solder it anyway.

Is there a chance Zigbee will work aswell? Or sometime in the future?
homecontrol have some nice outlets that replace your old "dumb" one. https://homecontrol.no/product/home-con ... tlet-copy/

using:
Radio: ZigBee HomeAutomation (HA) 2,4GHz, IEEE 802.15.4

indeed it's a nice piece of work! I use it for my brothers and when my centilation system (buva/itho daalderop 686) is supported I will use it for myself.
the only thing that would be very handy is to update from domoticz gui.

No I have to ride to my brother, unwire his rflink and bring my laptop with me to connect and upgrade it.
would be handy if I could do this by GUI.

Is it possible to assign different pins for the mii-light compatible NRF module? I don't use any NODO stuff, so I would like to use the header which is already available on the rf link board.

No, for Milight the hardware spi pins are used. For the nodo nrf part a software spi implementation is used.

Hi folks,

Could you please clarify the below, cause I'm a bit confused:

with RFLink it's possible to control Milight leds, and it's bidirectional. I.e. if I switch the lamp off with the phone app, then the status is changed in domoticz as well and vice versa (so not with the standard milight box, which is one way only). Is that correct?

Brilliant. One more question (hope it wasn't posted some other topic): what about pairing the leds and grouping? Is it possible to do it manually (or edit them afterwards - could be handy as grouping is a bit tricky with the official app) or one have to follow the milight procedure?

It is possible to do manual pairing.
No app or bridge here, so no idea about how grouping works with that.
In any case, RFLink acts as normal remote control towards the bulbs.
So you can follow standard procedures. But with any device ID you want.

Thank you Stuntteam for adding Mi-light!
Works great with my Mi-light remote.
But i think i have a strange issue here: when i change the colour of 1 group, the other groups changing to the same colour, but this occurs not with every colour!
Example when i change group 1 to white or yellow only group 1 changes to this colour.
When i change this same group for example to blue or red all other groups turn also to blue or red.

This for example is also a colour with same behaviour:

Code: Select all

curl -s "http://127.0.0.1:8080/json.htm?type=command&param=setcolbrightnessvalue&idx=2611&hex=FFC700"
(Same behaviour with the colour selector within Domoticz)

Some debug data for pushing one button 4 times On and then 4 times Off:

Code: Select all

That should already have been addressed :)
(for those who wonder how they got it working.. there has been some beta testing going on)
The release is on its way..
