Fibaro Swipe

Post by jjnj »

I saw the Fibaro swipe a while ago but I never got it out of my head. I really like this product and think it's a great and initiative way to control your house:

I was wondering if its supported in domoticz.

I have one up and running with domoticz, had to edit manufacturer_specific.xml and add a swipe xml. But that was over a month ago so inclusion should work out-of-the-box now.

Havn't really been using it much, currently it's only controlling 2 lights with basic swipes... Sad really, it does carry quite the price-tag. When I pre-ordered it there wasn't much info about it (apart from a quick video demo or something), stupid me just assumed that the photo-frame bit used a screen and you could upload a nice jpeg to it somehow...
I was really looking forward to this, sadly it'll never be:

Sad that you aren't using it that much. But it's good to hear it working with domoticz. How do you set up different scenes and actions? Is each swipe configured as a separate switch?

Sorry but how? I managed to Domoticz recognize the Swipe and see its parameters, but can not find the way to associate gestures scenes or switches.

A brief explanation would be very grateful.

I had a little pi-crash so I never got to anything more than the simple swipes, if you figured something out please share. I hope to include it soon-ish again though, but I never was fond of bitmasking so stuff like this is last on my todo list:
Value of parameter = 256 * Value of first gesture + + 16 * Value of second gesture + Value of third gesture....
Not that hard really, but sometimes just setting a lower wake-up value (iirc the swipe doesn't care if you attach a cable to it) can take the better part of a day..

Yes, I am looking at you, zme_wallc-s. Press all four buttons then button 2(or btn 4, I forgot) just seemed to make it more angry and stubborn NOT to wake-up...
That's when I'm not to fond of the Domoticz GUI with its 'msgbox' popups like the ones in group association... :? (OZWCP usually helps) Sorry about the rant, had to get that off my chest, heh..

I was able to include the Fibaro Swipe into domoticz.
After the inclusion, it was recognized only as a wall controller.
It took several wake ups on the Swipe (e.g. waiting several hours or pressing the B-button inside the Swipe) until the whole device was recognized.
So you have to be patient.
The Swipe has 5 groups (lifeline, flick up, flick down, flick left, flick right, circular swipe).

I associated each of these groups with node nr. 1 (my Aeon labs Z-Wave Controller) using the Z-Wave hardware configuration in domoticz (node management/groups and network) and waking up the swipe again via the B-button.

So far, everything seems to be ok. But here i got stuck:

I don't see any additional devices in the domoticz devices list. Maybe this is ok, because the Swipe acts as scene controller.
I don't see any reactions in the domoticz and Open Z-Wave logs, when i flick over the swipe.
I wasn't successful to create a scene in domoticz and add the swipe as activation device.

I will try to deep dive into the domoticz scene management.
I will report, if i made any progress.

Neverthteless any recommendations are welcome.

@2haasam "I associated each of these groups with node nr. 1 (my Aeon labs Z-Wave Controller) using the Z-Wave hardware configuration in domoticz (node management/groups and network) and waking up the swipe again via the B-button." did you try to associate other devices to Fibaro swipe ? I use a popp wall-c in these way. Might be similiar. 4 and 3 are for my blinds.
Let me know if it works in this way, I'm thinking to buy a fibaro swipe too. Does it really work under a table?

It works, when i add another node to the groups of the Fibaro swipe:
e.g. node 12.1 to group 1 of the swipe.
node 12.1 is switch nr. 1 of a Fibaro FGS223 double relay and group 1 is the swipe up gesture.
Each time, when i swipe up, the light at switch nr 1 of the FGS223 is switched on or off.

This asociation between z-wave devices directly is something which happens (more or less) outside domoticz.
I did the same for a ZME_WallC-S Wall Controller. Buttons 1 and 3 are switching the 12.1 node on and off, Buttons 2 and 4 are switching the second switch of the double relay.
So, operating the Swipe like the WalLC Wall Controller works.

But my target is, to start a scene inside domoticz with a swipe gesture (e.g. switching the alarm system on or off).
So far i haven't been successful.

P.S. It really works under a table.
I just held it beneath my wooden desktop (3cm thick) and the swipe gestures have been recognized.
I also saw several confirmations in the internet, that it works behind surfaces as long as they are non metallic.

I'm trying to setup Swipe with my Domoticz but without luck. I have added new device - it's seen by domoticz (last seen time is updated time to time), but I don't see any actions from Swipe in my log also I don't know how to associate gesture with device or scene in my domoticz. Can you help me?
