Tag Reader Question

I recently added a Zipato Mini Keypad with my setup and so far the inclusion seems to have gone fine and it looks to be working mainly as I hoped. I do have two questions that I'm hoping people might be able to help with.

Firstly, I was hoping that someone might be able to explain how the beeping / alarm component works as at the moment I am struggling with it? After adding the keypad I have a device labelled 'Switch' which when set to 'on' causes the keypad to beep for a preset amount of time when the keypad is next used... so far so good. The problem is that if they device isn't used for a period after the switch is triggered (a couple of hours) it seems to start the 30 seconds of beeping anyway (I think its when the controller wakes it up briefly). I'm sure this is probably the correct behavior by the keypad and I'm simply misunderstanding how this function operates, but any explanation would be appreciated.

The second question is a long shot and one to which I expect the answer is straight no - has anyone written a script that determines which tag was read? It seems that this isn't a standard feature, but it might be possible if one were to read the log files and react to them?
