Raspberry Pi3 - RaZberry Feature request

Post by evansnp »

After doing some experimenting, using 'HomeGenie', i have come to the conclusion that talking to the RaZberry card through a symlink e.g. /dev/ttyUSB20, doesn't work very well, giving loads of timeouts. In HomeGenie, I initially tried connecting to the USB20 symlink, and saw very similar problems as I was seeing in Domoticz i.e. node timeouts, nodes dead. However, in HomeGenie it's possible to configure a 'custom' port, so I used /dev/ttyAMA0, the native port, and all of the timeout issues disappeared.

So, would it be possible to add the 'custom' port choice for Z-wave devices please, as I feel that this may solve my issues with Domoticz?

Does it need it? From what I can see current beta Domoticz looks for and displays all USB serial device nodes. So for example on my Pi2-B's it shows /dev/ttyACM0 (USB connected Aeotec G5) and /dev/ttyAMA0 (RaZBerry Pi).

Just be warned, that for me the beta has serious issues with data quality. It adds fake random data (& at times random devices), and ignores legitimate device data. I fell back to the release version which although still has moments of dropout (Pretty consistently for 2 hours per day on one of my TKB88E's) is a lot better at getting the actual data correct.
