Linear GD-00Z-1 Garage Door Opener / Sensor

Post by DOM01 »

So I have purchased one of these z-wave devices to control my garage door
Linear GD-00Z-1
Purchased from Lowes branded as Iris it is the same as the Linear from amazon
http://www.lowes.com/pd_589237-78427-GD ... 13045&pl=1

domoticz does not recognize it correctly. I don't know if I should add it to my usb Z-Stick using the button or if I should add it within domoticz as a secure device. I have tried both but everything is unknown within domoticz.

I don't know how to proceed. I would like to use the device within domoticz to control the garage door. There is also a sensor to tell whether the door is open or not (tilt sensor).

Any advice would be appreciated

So I did find this thread that mentions that the device uses COMMAND_CLASS_BARRIER_OPERATOR
https://github.com/OpenZWave/open-zwave/issues/490

Can someone with understanding of z-wave within domoticz read that post and see if there is anything I can do to get my garage door opener working within domoticz?

I see Vera has support for the device out of the box so moving to that platform is very tempting. That said, I can only find posts where people are migrating from Vera to domoticz and not the other way around.

thanks!!

Did you ever get this working? I have it hooked up but do not see any place to select Garage door. I tried it as a on off switch and it says "Error sending switch command, check device/hardware !"

I do not have my z-wave garage door opener working with domoticz. I can't get it working myself as I don't know enough about it. My plan is to wait a few weeks. If I have no clear path then I will purchase a Vera controller. Our garage door works out of the box with Vera. If I like their UI then I might stick with Vera. If I don't like it then I will just use the Vera unit to control the garage door and still keep domoticz. Most of my logic is in Node-Red so switching should not be too hard since Vera supports web service calls.

I was looking at Vera to but I really do not want to have two systems for this. I really wish I had just installed Domoticz on a Pi instead of Synology. I can get mine hooked up and the node added but I can never get it to include the node. When I try the button on the Domoticz Switches I get Error sending switch command, check device/hardware ! and this in the log "Error: OpenZWave: Internal Node ValueID not found! NodeID: 21 (0x15), instanceID: 0"

I was able to get the node include but I have tried every switch type and still get Error: OpenZWave: Internal Node ValueID not found! NodeID: 24 (0x18), instanceID: 0.

When I check the groups it does not look like it belongs to any.

mikeH, did you ever have your Garage Door Opener working with Domoticz?

Nope. I just posted that last weekend. For a while I thought it might be the fact that it needed a secure interface but I ended up pairing it with my ZStick by bringing the ZStick into the garage. My belief is that it's not in the current version of the OpenZWave that domoticz is using.

This is what I have in the OpenZWave control panel interface (Hardware->Zwave->control panel)

Code: Select all

7 LBR	Routing Slave	Secure Barrier AddOn	Linear Unknown: type=4744, id=3030	Garage Door 5:33:55 PM	Ready
Is says secured "Off" on that screen.

I tried paring this again (secure) with the Domoticz box moved into the garage so that it's local to the node. I ended up with two nodes in the node list, one is dead and the second one is still unsecured. I don't have the same list of Information items as the OP, rather I just have one item which is Secured:Off. I can't believe that it's not in the OpenZWave stack, I'll go look in there soon.

UPDATE: I checked the OZW stack and it's not in the manufacturerspecific.xml file. I'm not getting the same set of information that others are. I'm not really sure how to proceed from here. Does anyone know if this requires a plus stick or something? I did notice that all of us seem to be using the S2 sticks.

I was able to get this added and can control it in ozwcp only. I am trying to figure out how to include the value as controllable in Domoticz if anyone has any ideas. I added:

https://github.com/legrego/open-zwave-c ... 498bddfa68
and
https://github.com/OpenZWave/open-zwave ... 6420cb6926

to my openzwave compile (as a dll since I'm on windows), and compiled domoticz with the changes to ozwcp. I also put together a configuration file for it so it'd show up nicely. Here it is in ozwcp:

Image

The sensor will change the Open value to On of Off. The Burglar value is 0 if the button on it is pushed in, and changes to 3 if the button is not pushed in. The Open state also won't change if the button is not pushed in. The Open value is editable, and if it says Open: On, and I change it to off, the garage door controller beeps like the instruction manual says it should when closing the door. I haven't tested it yet on the door or with a multimeter, but it appears to be working. I'm trying to find a way to make Domoticz add that value to the devices tab now in order to control it without going all the way into ozcp. If anyone knows the correct way to do this I'm all ears.

I don't know what Sensor, alarm type, alarm level, or access control are triggered by yet. Access control was 0 when I initially got it to pair, and has now changed to 254. Burglar will also change to 254 occasionally and I have no idea why. When the burglar value is 3, the switch for Burglar in domoticz turns "on".

What version of domoticz are you running? I can't recall seeing anything like what you've seen. Mine just looks dead after pairing.

It's an older version. In order for it to not show up dead for you make sure you compile openzwave with the changes I mentioned, and openzwave control panel in domoticz as well.

I haven't had any more time to mess with this. My next step will be to try to make a dummy switch and call a script to change the z wave values manually.

Thanks for the insights. I'm on an RPi which is horrible for compilation (don't have cross compile set up), but I could move platforms to test this.... Are you working in the github repo, or just doing this on your own?

I finally was able to get this working. You'll need to apply patches to Openzwave & Domoticz. I published my patches to Domoticz (and Homebridge plugin) here:
https://github.com/jowerg

A quick video using Domoticz + HomeBridge + Linear GD00Z-4:

NOTE: You will also need to apply the OpenZWave patch to support the COMMAND_CLASS_BARRIER_OPERATOR:

I have followed your links for patching Domoticz so it works with the GD00Z-4 but it is not obvious to me how one goes about applying the patch. Is there some step by step directions that I am missing?
