Compiling from source on pi platform very slow ...

Post by rimram31 »

Hi,

To share with you. Rebuilding domoticz from source on a pi 2 platform with a fresh install (raspbian jessie) is very very slow and it may occur memory issues. The problem come from the -j 4 option of the wiki ... Or don't use this -j option or add swap to be able to compile easily.

the -j4 option is only for people with the RPi2, which has quad cores.. if you run that on a single core Pi1 then your in for some hurt.
Debian Jessie: CuBox-i4 (Primary) w/Static Routed IP and x509 / BeagleBone with OpenSprinkler / BeagleBone Planted Aquarium / 3x Raspbery Pi2b GPIO Slaves
Elemental Theme - node-domoticz-mqtt - Home Theatre Controller - AndroidTV Simple OSD Remote - x509 TLS Auth

I'm talking about a PI2 building domoticz on raspbian Jessie. Perhaps Jessie matter as I've been able to compile with -j4 option adding swap but I think the option is useless. At least for my last installations on Jessie, -j4 this is not working at all.

add a temporary swap file or use -j3 then
