New Raspberry PI on the way

Post by mbliek »

New Pi 3B works fine here with Aeotec USB Stick GEN5.
With latest image, clean install.

@mbliek:
Did you make a typo? You talk about a new Pi 2B. Did you mean 3? Because that is Where the problem occurs

Seems there are some issues with the DT overlay for the serial port on P3 https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... ty#p918021. This might impact the Razberry, the good news is they are working on it..

No problems with my usb zwave stick here, pretty fast thing the RPi3, going to do some compile benchmarking today,
should be 50-70 faster then the rpi2

I don't expect the USB to have a problem, but I have an add-on board on the GPIO pins..

On the mentioned forum they say an update was released on friday evening. I'll give that a go tomorrow!
Another option Would be the USB zwave stick, with the added bonus of zwave+.
On the downside: this Will cost me another €45 Image

I was hoping to keep using my current raz. So that is why i say it is more expensive.
More flexible? What are the benefits?
I saw you can Carry it to the proximity of a node for inclusion purposes, are there any other benefits?

The USB stick has a better range.
The RaZberry range is very bad.

If you add a antenna 1/4 labda to the board the range is fine... And we allready purched the raz a year ago, so if we can get it work than thats better than buying a new one..

But good to know that it is rasp FW not openzwave/domoticz.. I will wait it out... Thanx for the help!

Okey, i am going to write what i was going to write this morning but did not post at the end
Razberry support is deprecated, you see this in the logs of domoticz for a year now.
It might be dropped in an hour.... do you really want to wait for this ?

Okey, i must revert part of the above comment, this is for users using the razberry as hardware in domoticz, not users using openzwave in combination with the razberry in domoticz
But... if you are going to go for zwave+, just buy a usb stick

Ordered my RasPi 3 now, upgrading from Pi 1. as the cost for 3 is only a few bucks more than for 2 i choosed 3. Maybe i can be happy later if we have a 64 Bit system and Domoticz. See and wait...

I hope they get openzwave for razzberry working. Otherwise I have to buy a zwave stick.
