New to Z-Wave - can't get USB to initialise in Domoticz

Post by Scones »

Hi

An existing thread where I'm asking for help with heating systems, I've described how I'm struggling to get my new USB Z-Wave adaptor to work on my Domoticz system.

http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic ... 455#p69754

Can anyone give advice on what I need to do to fix the problem and get it working again please

I tried changing it to USB but had no success so I changed it back to ACM0.

The key to the solution was patience. Z-Wave seems to be VERY slow in doing things, but with patience everything gets there in the end

its is slow to start.. especially as your network grows.. thats because its querying all non-sleeping nodes at start... one at a time and waiting for a response.. look in the logs for All Nodes Queried, Z-Wave Ready or something like that before you start sending it more commands.

once its up and going its pretty quick as long as you have it setup correctly.

As Nayr says, it's "OpenZWave: Awake Nodes queried" hopefully within a minute.
Up to a day later you'll get "OpenZWave: All Nodes queried"

yep thats the log... my network takes alot longer than a minute now with dozens of devices.. really a pain trying to fix z-wave bugs, spend alot of time waiting on the network to come back before you can actually test anything.. much longer than it takes to rebuild domoticz. I may have to get me another stick and setup a 1 device test network.
