Z Wave hardware

Post by Justino »

Hi there,

Since i'm interested in both 433mhz and 868mhz frequency i searched the internet about the hardware

I have already bought a RFXcom433E and it's working fine on my Raspberry Pi 2B

However, i have the following questions:
- Would buying a Razberry (Zwave 2.0) daughter board be a smart move?
- Is Razberry compatible together with a RFXcom?
- Are there other/better options then a RazBerry?
- Does the RazBerry (Zwave 2.0) has Z wave plus?

Hope you guys can help me out!

Kind regards,
Fellow Domotican

Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Wave Z-Stick, Gen5 Z-Wave Plus - See if they have a European version of this, I dont know for sure but I think they do.

Works with Domoticz, Gen5 Compatible, USB so it'll work on any hardware and with an extension cable if you want to locate the transmitter and pi in separate locations.. Since you already have the UHF transmitter on your pi I would separate them, at least a meter so they dont interfere with eachother. Despite the fact that they operate on separate bands, these two frequencies can resonate.. just multiply 433Mhz by two and see how close it is to your ZWave..
Debian Jessie: CuBox-i4 (Primary) w/Static Routed IP and x509 / BeagleBone with OpenSprinkler / BeagleBone Planted Aquarium / 3x Raspbery Pi2b GPIO Slaves
Elemental Theme - node-domoticz-mqtt - Home Theatre Controller - AndroidTV Simple OSD Remote - x509 TLS Auth

I checked the internet and found that the 433mhz and 868mhz can work around eachother. So now i can look for hardware.

Found that the RazBerry is supporting more devices then the Gen5 USB. I can also solder an antenna on the RazBerry, which is not possible at the Gen5 USB

they both use openzwave so I dont know how one device supports more than the other, care to enlighten me?

they can work around eachother, just good practice to not put them on top of eachother for RF's sake.

Cannot find the webpage anymore. They were telling the RazBerry had more devices support due too their software.
Not sure if it's true though.

Still not sure which one i would take, RazBerry or the USB Gen5

I dont think so, the software is the same despite what device you choose.
