master slave raspberry

Post by keesg »

On this moment I use a raspberry with a raspberry zwave plus module. A placed this in my house en control several switches with it.
My office is out of range of the module. Now I want to place a raspberry with a zwave module in my office as well. It is on the same lan network. I want to use the raspberry in the office as a kind of slave from the module in the house.
In this way I can do the scripting and switching in one domoticz application instead of two.
Is this possible.

regards

Can't you place a powered node in between? F.i. one wall switch?
This would function as a relay node.
Better investment than an additional Pi and a control stick.

I think not it is approx 80 m with a building in between. The ethernet comes from my office, goes to the house so that is wy I was looking in the direction of another Pi.
Or does there exist a zwave repeater with an ethernet connection?

You can run Domoticz on another Pi as slave and add the switches from that slave Domoticz to your master Domoticz. On the master it would appear as regular switches. You won't even notice you are switching 'slave' devices because they act like local ones.

Got a better Idea. In my office there is a vmware server running 24/7. I make a smal virtual machine with debian. Install domoticz. A usb zwave stick passthrough and I am in business.
saves me a raspberry

finaly i am bringing this to practice. Installed another raspberry with domoticz. The vmware server was not that easy so choose for a Pi-3 with wifi. This pi I can locate on a better place than where the server is.
Now I have to wait for the z-wave stick and switches to be delivered. (hope this afternoon).
