Fibaro FGSD002 set-up (and issues?)

Post by Dutchsea »

Hi,

I just started with Domoticz (on a Raspi, with RFXCOM and Razberry with Openzwave) and trying to learn how to get everything working. All my KaKu devices work perfectly. Just struggling with my 2 zwave Fibaro smoke detectors (FGSD002).

I can add them as new nodes and once i do and go to the setup instructions of the Razberry i can see and modificaties the config settings such as "Fibaro Smoke Sensor sensitivity"

Some odd things though:
1. When i save the new settings it seems the new settings are not stored. Because when i go back to the config the old settings are still there (and they are all in "disabled" mode)
2. Both devices seem to be in a sleep modus as there is a cresent moon in the Nodes overview next to them.
3. In the devices section all sensors suchr as smoke, heat, powermanagment (hardware column) show a status "off" (in the data column).

So it looks like i dont get any readings form the devices.

Suggestions are very welcome.

Battery powered devices do sleep and therefore take new settings upon waking (at wakeup interval).
You can force the wakening by pushing the button for 3 seconds until the led becomes white. As soon as it comes white you release and press the button again.

Thanks that helped. Note that with my model the wake up is triggered by 3 short clicks on the B button (so not a 3 sec. hold)

Follow up question. The heatsensor of the smoke detector is listed in the "switched" taboe Domoticz. Not in the "temperature" tab. Is this expected behaviour? Because the sensor is not really reporting a temperature, only a cross-over from a pre-defined temperature?

The heat switch is an alarm for overheating, by default at 55 degrees, see parameters.
You should also have a normal thermometer. I use 6 of them because they are so good.

I dont see a normal thermometer. Maybe i have not added the sensor correctly to the zwave network.
I will try to add them again. how i understood it is that i go to the set-up section of Domoticz, go to hardware and next go to set-up in the Razberry line and add a node after pressing the B button of the smoke sensor 3 times quickly.

And keep 'allow new hardware' active in the settings page.
Temperature is only sent after a change (according to parameter 20 & 21)

Hi, I tried again to get the FGSD-002 fully functional but the issue remaing.

Did a fresh reinstall on both a SD card and on USB drive. Domoticz is running fine on both drives.
I am able to add my 2 smoke sensors (using a Razberry and Openzwave) but still no temperature sensors show up.

In fact the sensors seem to stop reporting after the initial report when added as I dont get any new values after adding.

What can I try more?

Hi,

First of all i want to excuse myself for poor quality of my English :)

I just bought two FGSD002 and am testing it. Maybe two important things which can help :

- to force parameters changes you need to press front button for 3 second (until your hear a single bip and light is white) and then press button once again. It will wake up device and apply parameters changes
- I was unable to see thermoter sensor until i did an alarm test (keep button pressed for around 10 second until your hear smoke alarm...)

By the way i was actually unable to chain devices, that's to say when first device alarm raised, start alarm of secon device. I unclude both of them in group 4 but without success. If anybody have information it should be really helpfull for me.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Raphaël.

Hi Raphael,

Many thanks for your tips! I will try them soon. I need new batteries as mine already are finished after 2 months...?!
Ill let you know. If you learned how to chain the devices can you share that too?

Hi all,

I have the same issue regarding saving of the settings. Indeed when I want to change the settings, they are never saved even when the Fibaro is awake (I have to press 3 times on the B button for that).
Did I miss something ?

Regards

Hi Bastian,

Can you describe your issue. Is the sensor found by Domoticz or not at all?
It took me a couple of times ( slecht option "include node" in the Razberry menu followed by 3 times pushing B button on the sensor) before it was found.

Hi

thank you for your answe. Yes I succeed in adding the sensor in Domoticz. Indeed after clicking on "include node" and then pushing 3 times the B button, it has just worked well.
Anyways now when I try to change the settings of the sensor and click on Save, I can see after refreshing the screen that new settings have not been taken into account.

You may want to wake up the sensor before changing the settings. So push the B button 3x again before changing the settings.

I did that, and indeed I can see that the sensor wakes up, but it doesn't change anything...

I am having issues with the FGSD002 as well. I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, fresh Domoticz (image) version 4834, Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5.

The smoke sensor was included in the Z-Wave network without issues, but if I click Devices everything is classified as Type 'Light/Switch', SubType 'Switch'. There are 9 items, but Temperature is missing.

The OpenZWave control panel shows temperature just fine. Below is a snippet from the log after adding the smoke sensor.

Any suggestions?

Small update: after clicking the button 3 times on the FGSD-002 a couple of times, the temperature sensor popped up in Domoticz. Still not sure why everything else shows as light/switch, subtype switch.

Also, the temperature sensor has ID 0501, the other IDs are all prefixed with more zeros (eg. 00000528).
