Attach scene to double-click Z-Wave.me dimmer 05458

Post by RoyT »

My ZME_05458 dimmer has the ability to start scenes by double-clicking, but I have not yet been successful to detect this with Domoticz on my Raspberry Pi with RaZberry. I noticed that someone else had a similar issues with their Fibaro dimmer, but unlike them I don't see a new device in the device list, nor does it get picked up by "Add device" in the scene manager.

This probably has to do with the slightly different settings of the Z-Wave.me dimmer, but their documentation isn't all to clear on that. The parameter that I can change is:
Action on button double press or hold (Parameter Number 14, Parameter Size 1)
Defines which command should be sent on button double press or press-hold. Basic and Scene Activation commands are sent to Association group. Use Scene Controller Conf to set up Scene ID for Scene Activation. (...)
Another manual floating around says:
Defines which command should be sent on button double press or press-hold. Basic and Scene Activation commands are sent to Association group. Use Scene Controller Conf to set up Scene ID for Scene Activation.
Relevant options are (next to "disabled", "switch all", etc):
3: Send Scenes
5: Send Preconfigured Scenes
That's it. Nothing about what "Scene Controller Conf" is, how to or why to set up a "Scene ID", etc. Does anyone have a clue to what I should do? :-)

According the manual

Group 2: Double press and press-hold of up/down buttons (max. nodes in group: 14)

did you at the controller (node 1) to group 2 also ? (so group 1 and group 2)

Thanks for the input! Not sure if I understand you correctly. According to that part of the manual, I can double press-and-hold to associate another device. What am I supposed to do (in Domoticz?) to make the dimmer recognize the RaZberry as another device it can control?

From the openzwave hardware setup, select 'groups and network' from the dropdown
then assign node 1 (the controller) to group 2 (by clicking the + button)

So I'm clearly brand new to z-wave ;)

Right now I have done this ("unknown" is this dimmer):

Image

Which, if I understand the documentation of both Z-Wave.me and Domoticz correctly, have the controller in the same group as the doubleclick action. But: where in Domoticz do I actually see the ability to attach a scene or whatnot to that action?

PS: Who can clue me in on what "1.1", "1.2" and 1.3" mean?

If possible i would only try to put '1' in the groups not 1.1 and 1.2 (if its possible)
do you receive it now in domoticz?

Then head over to scenes/groups, and create a new one, learn the code from this button to it, and place your devices in it

I appreciate the patience gizmocuz :-) So, I only have node 1 in Group 2 now (removed all the rest). How do I know if I receive it in Domoticz? Doubleclicking the dimmer doesn't seem to add a new device, nor does "add device" for activation devices find the event when I doubleclick the dimmer button. But maybe I'm missing something obvious, being new to this.

I would also add node 1 in group 2 (just in case, maybe not needed)
Then in the settings page, enable 'accept new hardware', and observe the log, hope it gets added now

I'm at a loss :-) I've added node 1 to groups 1 and 2 (and 3, but that's unrelated to this afaik), checked "accept new hardware", but double clicking the button doesn't add a new device in Domoticz (nor does clicking the button on the "push button on remote" prompt for the scene editor). Given that the dimmer and RaZberry card both are from Z-Wave.me, I'd assume that compatibility there isn't the issue.

Am I wrong in expecting the double click to shown up as a new device?

Did you try to add a device by creating a scene and press the button 'Add device' under 'Activation devices'? Thereafter, you need to press the button of the switch twice.

I'm receiving a Fibaro FGD-212 today, just to make sure that it isn't me not understanding the setup, nor a faulty RaZberry z-wave implementation.
