It looks quite nice but I do not understand why they designed it such that in some cases you would still need the bypass.
F.i. Qubino dimmers do not need a bypass at all.
If your wall outlet is only 4cm deep, it will probably not fit with the bypass.
Btw. they messed up the wire colors in their presentation:
Good luck connecting the dimmer with the wire colors as shown.

The bypass don't need to be in the same box as the dimmer is. The bypass can be located where the lamp is.
But yes, I get your point. Qubino don't need any of this, and it's even smaller than the Fibaro micro modules.
And yes, the wires are the wrong colors. Guess these colors looks better in the presentation

I sent an email to Fibaro about the wire colors.
They now changed the colors in the presentation.
Aside from the bypass, I think it still is a major improvement on the old version.
Might try one if I need to expand my setup.

Yeah, would be great to have all the params available in domoticz. Got mine hooked up today. It works but I cannot really configure it.
Is there anything I could do to get this device to work properly in Domoticz?

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2 FGD-212 supported? New type!
Did anybody manage to get all the parameters in domoticz or in openzwave? I see only param 1,2,14,30,31,32,33 and 58 without any description. The pdf for the device shows a lot more options to configure.
I have it connected to a 3-spot LED (Pharox) and it does work but the dimming is terrible. It doesn't seem to dim in a linear fashion. Only a tiny bit. I 'm not sure if I need a bypass (the energy usage says it uses 29Watt at full brightness) so that's more than 25 which is said to need a bypass.
Not sure what to do here.

Tested mine without domoticz, dims very nice on 4x20w halogen lights. Still struggeling with touch (touch lamp to switch on/off and dim) control. Have to get that working before integrating into domoticz

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2 FGD-212 supported? New type!
I got two dimmers. Both connected with 2 wires. One is linked to a halogen spot and works like a charm. The other is connected to a spot with 3 pharox leds and that one more or less sucks dimming-wise. Dimming with the physical switch is marginal and with the slider in domotics I can manage to get it to dim to acceptable levels but I have to set it to 1%. At that level it still produces maybe about 50% of the strength. If I then turn the lights off and back on, only then it seems that the level is truly at the lowest brightness level. Really weird.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2 FGD-212 supported? New type!
Mm.. interesting.. I switched to the beta and now manufacturer_specific indeed lists the new dimmer and the fgd212.xml really looks promising. However in the zwave setup in domotics I still see 'FIBARO System Unknown: type=0102, id=1000'. Is there still some kind of a mis-match here?

I got the parameters. Searching the forum learned me I had to re-include the dimmers. Now I have all the params in Domoticz and OpenZwave. Now let's see if I can get my LEDs to dim properly (I may have a need for a bypass).

Sorry for the newbie question, what's the correct way of pulling this update?xs4me wrote:The configuration has been submitted to OZW (see https://github.com/OpenZWave/open-zwave/pull/640)
(If you have copied an earlier version, please update.)
I am using the dimmer in a 3-wire setup with a 9.5W led bulb. Works like a charm.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2 FGD-212 supported? New type!
I have it connected via 2-wire setup to 5x 4W dimmable LEDs, but it's acting strange and flickers when changing the dim level.mbliek wrote:Yes 9.5W led will work without bypass.
Here are my findings:
2-wire setup:
The Dimmer works correctly from 9.5W without bypass
Everything under 9.5W will need the bypass in a 2-wire setup (but the dimmer is reacting very strange when the dimmer is at 100%, parameter 2 should be at 50%).
3-wire setup:
The Dimmer works correctly from 7W without bypass
Everything under 7W will need the bypass in a 3-wire setup.
Do i need a bypass or better to connect it via 3-wire setup?
EDIT: Connected the dimmer via 3-wire setup. All is working well, no flickering anymore. Only issue is that the slider in Domoticz is only responding between 7 and 41%

For the slider issue you should set the minimal and maximum dimming levels in the dimmer 2 parameters.

Those are set automatically by the calibration (min 7% max 41%)mbliek wrote:For the slider issue you should set the minimal and maximum dimming levels in the dimmer 2 parameters.
But i wonder if i can correct this in Domoticz, because the slider in Domoticz is using the same values as the dimmer 2 parameters. So above 41 the slider has reached the maximum of the dimmer so going to 100% is useless.

Re: Fibaro Dimmer 2 FGD-212 supported? New type!
Another FGD-212 question:
I'd like to use the tripple click to trigger a Domoticz scene (or switch group). The Dimmer 2 can be configured via parameter 28 to activate a scene-id (Fibaro Dimmer 2 scene that is). As far as I understand the Dimmer can provide ID (25) when the tripple click (secondary switch button) has been performed. Can this scene ID from the dimmer be retrived in Domoticz? If so how?

Just bought two of these dimmers. It all works as advertised, but every now and then my lights start to flicker in a rhythmic pattern. The strange thing is that both dimmers flicker in perfect sync. It looks as if the dimmers cycle through some sort of program. I made a call to the webshop where i bought them. He only could say that it was the start up sequence which you see after installing, but that's definitely not the case. Both dimmers are used for halogen lamps (90 and 125 Watts respectively) so there should not be a need for a dimmer bypass. Both dimmers are installed behind a pulse switch, next to each other, so they're only 10 cm apart. Maybe that's causing some high frequency interference?

Did you ever solve this?loyske wrote:Those are set automatically by the calibration (min 7% max 41%)mbliek wrote:For the slider issue you should set the minimal and maximum dimming levels in the dimmer 2 parameters.

I have the same issue, the calibration set paremeter #2 to 70%, but i can still move the slider over 70%, and around 98% the light turns off.
One thing i noticed is that without the bypass i dont have this issue.
