Re: Android app
Now I get it run, but it still have same problem as previous version. I have some switches several times and some switches doesn't appear at all.
Also when I tried to leave application I have to press back button several times to get out of app.
Other than this it is working and I can turn switches on/off.

Can you post your settings?Skippiemanz wrote:Hmmm, It looks prommising but keeps saying cannot connect. All my settings where right. Any ideas?
When you open the log in the Domoticz web interface, do you see an incoming connection or any other error?
Do you use the login or security panel?
The back button in Android isn't made for exiting an app but it does work like that most of the time. In my app you'll move back over screens and you'll open the splash screen where it checks some settings and then opens your start screen. Pressing back on that screen will exit the app, waiting to long to do that will open your start screen again. I'll see if there's a solution for this.alfred_j_kwak wrote:Now I get it run, but it still have same problem as previous version. Can you post or DM me the output of this URL with a screenshot of your switches screen in Domoticz?
URL: http://[domoticz host]:[domoticz port]/json.htm?type=devices&filter=light
With it I can check why not all the switches are appearing in the app.

Re: Android app
wow, nice! fast, easy, and clean.
I hope you enjoy the programming and continue this nice piece of work.
my wishlist
- group / reposition devices
- able to see logs (last seen( maybe when you hold your finger for 2 seconds on a device you get more options
- an about page (under settings (with version number/version check, link to this post, and option to open the normal domoticz website version
- an update checker and starter (so you can start updating domoticz on the way and check it home.
- but the best feature will be: widgets.

Re: Android app
At home I can use my external IP address to connect to Domoticz. You could try if your router lets you do that. You won't need two configs that way.Dylantje wrote:Great app!!!
Only what i mis is the next.
By the official app i have two config.on my android screen
1: home
2: Away
The reason, my ip @ home is different then when i am on my way. [ wan and lan ip ]
So i hope i can make multiple configs...[ in the future ]
When you have this option i think it is the simplest app, and that is what i like...
Or is there some one with a better solution?
Grouping is coming. I read that Gizmocuz is working on implementing this in Domoticz. Once it's in I'll implement those groups in the app. That way you'll only need to configure it once. If the API will support it but I guess that it will.remb0 wrote:wow, nice! fast, easy, and clean.

The app will be moved to the Play store in the near future so that will handle the updates.
Widgets has been requested by a few more people so I'll have a look into that.
What do you guys think of Geofencing and working with NFC?
With geofencing you could set an area around for example your home and when you enter or leave that area a certain scene will run. You could use it to turn on the lights when you enter your street or turn up the heating when you leave work in the evening.
With NFC you could put stickers around the house that can be read with your phone. Instead of starting the app and selecting a scene you'll tap your phone against the sticker and then a cetrain scene will run.
Thank you all for the feedback.
Re: Android app
Loving the app, keep up the good work.
One minor issue, there is no feedback (visual or otherwise) when turning a group on or off.

Re: Android app
Having some trouble to connect the app to my Domoticz server. Via browser and external IP Domoticz works fine.
App settings entered:
domoticz server (same address like in browser)
Username
Password.
Autherntication > tried basic and login page
Domoticz port> tried none and default 6144
Error: Error reading switches.
Could not connect to Domoticz server.
What am I doing wrong?

I Love the idea of geofencing and nfc! I see some real benefits in that. But first need to get it to work..

Re: Android app
Update
The bug preventing a connection with the server when authentication is used is solved in this update.
After installing the update the settings need to be set correctly one time. This is only necessary when a username and/or password is used.
To update the settings follow these steps:
1. Open the settings page
2. Open the password setting
3. Change the password in a other value than the one already entered
4. Save this password
5. Open the password setting again
6. Change the password in the correct value
7. Save the password
Download available here, via the link in the start post or scanning this QR code.
I've tested this with both the login-page and basic-auth options.

Re: Android app
Yes, works with me too!
However I realize now I was confused by the "Domoticz port" setting.
In the browser we're used to put 192.xx.xx.xx:8080 But the app splits it in two parts. A separate field for the port (8080) setting.
There is a "remote shared port" setting in Domoticz setup. It made me think I probably had to use this setting for the "app port setting".
Happily ever after and great app. Very powerfull.
Thanks and regards,
Albert.

Love the app!
Some feedback -
- Doorbell which is not controllable - it just appears as "OFF" with no option to turn it on.
- Door / Window contacts appear as "OFF" and "ON" when they should really say "CLOSED" and "OPEN"
- Motion sensor appears as an "OFF" and "ON" but should really be labelled differently.
Other than that - no issues so far

Re: Android app
Why don't you submit it to the Play Store? It's easier to update it.
Plus, you'll get find easier too! I'll test this app out, that's for sure! Looks promising.

I disabled the doorbell as I tought that ringing a doorbell from a smartphone was not necessary. I can enable it though.asjmcguire wrote:Love the app!

Good point about the labels. I'll see if I can change them.
Well, I wanted to have a stable version first and see if there would be any interest before putting it in the store.fl1p wrote:Why don't you submit it to the Play Store? It's easier to update it.

Re: Android app
Quick question, is the splashscreen there for any other purpose then a visual intro?
It looks nice, don't get me wrong, but it adds time before I can actually operate a switch.
So if possible I would like an option to disable the splashscreen.

Re: Android app
During the splash screen the app checks if there is a network connection, checks if the server settings are set and retrieves the start screen setting to load the correct screen.gertjuhh wrote:Quick question, is the splashscreen there for any other purpose then a visual intro?

I'm working on widgets that you can place on your home screen. That way you'll be able to quickly operate switches without starting the whole app.

Update
Installing is simple. Download it here or scan the QR-code and open the file on your phone.
Minor changes
- Several minor bug fixes
- Doorbell switch now functions as a switch and has a new icon
- Contacts sensor status now displayed as "Open / Closed"
Design changes
I've updated the design of all the screens.
Widgets
This update contains the first release of widgets that can be placed on the home screen. The widget only works on switches. Scenes and the possibility to put them on the lock screen will be available soon.
When you add the widget to the screen you will get the option to select the switch that links to that widget and you can select a colour to keep the widgets apart.
One major thing that needs work is keeping track of the status of the switches. I need to find a way to update the status of the switches every couple of seconds without draining the battery. As for now the status is read and saved when you put the widget on the home screen. If you then for example switch a light on without using the widget the widget still thinks the light is off. Pressing the widget will turn the light on again, pressing twice will turn it off. So, small work-around at the moment.
I figured that this version of the widgets offered enough to release the update.
