receiving Somfy-rts

Post by gerardvs »

Hi all,

Using rtl_433 and a sdr module I would like to receive Somfy-RTS events so that when someone uses the remote control Domoticz can be informed about the changed status of a device.
When I use the rtl_433 hardware plugin the log gives "Unhandled sensor reading" so I assume this is not supported (yet?).

Code: Select all

2026-07-30 23:13:12.260 Status: rtlsdr: Unhandled sensor reading, please report: ({"time" : "2026-07-30 23:13:11", "model" : "Somfy-RTS", "id" : 12345678, "control" : "? (14)", "counter" : 0, "retransmission" : 0, "mic" : "CHECKSUM", "mod" : "ASK", "freq" : 433.399, "rssi" : 1.256, "snr" : 24.291, "noise" : -24.291})
Still I would like to know if there is a way to receive these events. So if anyone knows a way within Domoticz it would be great.

--Gerard

p.s. I have this already working with node-red but like to handle as much as possible within Domoticz.

Hi meal, I have rflink usb device too, how do you collect events from the physical Somfy remote control?

i always thought that somfy can only be transmitted, not received.
at least that is the case with the frxttrx433

so basically you control somfy by creating a new remote, not record the somfy codes and transmit those again.

somfy 433 is one way communication
somfy io is 2 way but is encrypted and can not be controlled from domoticz

You can perfectly receive Somfy signals from handheld transmitters and sun/wind sensors.
At the moment I use a rtlsdr to receive these signals, put them on a mqtt bus and process them on node-red. From there I update the blinds and screens via the Domoticz api with "&param=udevice&parsetrigger=false". Therefore Domoticz shows the real status of the blinds/screens even when a handheld remote is used.

My question was merely if the above mentioned plugin could do the same.

Just wondering. You choose for the API, why not mqtt like in the Wiki

Code: Select all

{  "command": "udevice",  "idx" : 7,  "nvalue" : 0,  "svalue" : "90;2975.00", "parse": false }
Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.

Fair question. For me it give a better and a more direct control of devices.
I have multiple Domoticz instances on multiple locations and a lot of mqtt communication between a lot of other devices and multiple node-red instances. Multiple Domoticz instances gives trouble with device id's. Autodiscovery via mqtt is, at least for me, not working.

Found it, it simply does not exists. So the API is the only one. Nor chatgpt or claude did know how the API should be formed.
Found it by just looking into the database.

Both the API and MQTT work fine for updating the status of the blinds.
For MQTT you can send a message like:

Code: Select all

mosquitto_pub -h <broker-ip> -t "domoticz/in" -m '{"command": "udevice", "idx": 123, "nvalue": 1, "parsetrigger": false}'
Where setting nvalue=1 for status open and nvalue=0 for status close (for open/close blind).

But as said before, I prefer the API, but who knows it might change :)

This is a great project to control/receive your Somfy hardware:

https://github.com/rstrouse/ESPSomfy-RTS

Another option is to use a RFXCom transceiver

I tested/am using both

I made the mistake of switching nvalue with svalue. That's why I thought that it did not work.
It works now with MQTT to Domoticz.
B.t.w. in my case nvalue=1 is Open, nvalue=3 is Closed and nvalue=0 is Stopped

@gismocuz The project you mention is a nice project. I could not find it in the documentation, but does it work with Domoticz and manual remote controls which are synchronized with Domoticz?
I have Domoticz which controls my rollershutters (Somfy RTS) on an automated way with RFXCom, based on temperature and outside lux.
If I want to intervene with the handheld remotes (I have 2 of them to control my 6 rollershutters), that new state (Open, Stopped and Closed) was not transfered to Domoticz. With this solution it is.
So which ever I use the state in Domoticz is always correct. The next automation run now knows the right state.
