i know mqttad is able to create devices.
if a device is created but not updated through mqtt, will it be removed after a certain time or will it just stay there.
the reason for asking
i have a device created with mqttad but want to update it through regular mqtt
when will a mqttad created device be removed

Re: when will a mqttad created device be removed
It will stay there as long as there is a MQTT AD retained config topic in the MQTT server. You can remove that retained topic with for example MQTT Explorer.
Updating a discovered device always goes over MQTT so not sure why you want to remove it.

Re: when will a mqttad created device be removed
i am fiddling with an MQTT AD barometer.
According to Gizmocuz the barometer over MQTT omly has simple levels which are coupled on pressure only
i added some prediction code to my esphome device to get as better prediction.
it turned out the mqttad value and the mqtt value i send to domoticz/in arrive at the same time
the result was that my prediction was overwritten by the default domoticz behavior
i now added a 1 second delay to the second message and this seems to work so there is no reason anymore to disable sending out the default value, i just overwrite it 1 second later
result, an MQTT AD barometer with levels Sunny, Stable, unstable, cloudy, cloudy/rain,thunderstorm predicted on barometer level, rise, fall and duration of that rise/fall over a 3 hour period.
seems to work now.
