Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
Hi,
Since I migrated my Raspberry Pi 4 to Bookworm and updated Domoticz to version 2025.2, I no longer have access to my "Open Z-Wave USB" hardware. Is this normal? What should I do to retrieve the data from my Aeotec Multisensor 6 Z-Wave sensor?
Best regards
Damien S.

OpenZwave is still available in Domoticz. So perhaps there is a connection issue with the serial USB device.
Did you set the correct USB device in the hardware gateway?
Do you see the Zwave USB device doing the following command in a terminal:
ls /dev/serial/by-id

I see only this two usb interfaces :
usb-0658_0200-if00 usb-RFXCOM_RFXtrx433_A148K6V-if00-port0
The first one must correspond to the Aeotec Z-Wave usb module.

And did you set that /dev/serial/by-id/usb-0658_0200-if00 device in the zwave hardware gateway (menu Setup - Hardware)?
Edit: And if you upgraded from a very old Domoticz version checkout the last section of this wiki page to see some attention points (not related to OpenZwave but could be influencing the way Domoticz behaves).

Re: Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
I think I have the same issue.
Today I made a new SD card for my Raspberry Pi 3B with 32-bit bookworm.
I downgraded the kernel to 6.1, because of my Aeotec z-wave gen5 stick (will crash with newer kernel).
I installed the lastest stable version of Domoticz (2025.2)
After I restored the domoticz database backup into it, z-wave is not working anymore.
In hardware settings the Open Z-wave type is not present anymore.
Is Open Z-wave still available in Domoticz 2025.2?

Re: Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
Why I can not find it anymore in the list of the hardware devices?
I tried it also on a different Raspberry Pi (4). In this Pi I don't have a z-wave usb stick connected.
When domoticz 2025.1 was installed I saw OpenZwave in the hardware list.
After update to domoticz 2025.2 it was not there anymore. And also not in the beta version 2025.2.16997 (dec 15th).
Is it possible that the OpenZwave hardware is only visible when there is a z-wave usb stick connected?
And why I do not see it on my Pi with a z-wave stick connected?

I dont know. I still have it in my 2025 2 stable hardware list (I do not use it). Perhaps clear your browser cache or try it with a private/incognito browser session

Re: Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
Hello,
On my 3 Domoticz 2025.2 installations:
On RPI3: I can't find OpenZwave
On RPI4: I can find OpenZwave but I can't use it (the "configuration" icon stays RED)
On my Windows 11 PC (which is not in production): I can find OpenZwave and it even works perfectly!
I don't understand these differences!
Any ideas?
Additional information:
On RPI4 the version displayed for OpenZwave is 1.6-1967-g5550fa34,
On W11, it's 1.6.1963.g6ce481f4.dirty
????
Merry Christmas and a wonderful end of the year!

No idea what is going on if you ruled out browser cache issues. But as the OpenZwave project is abandoned for years now it is a good idea to move to Zwave-js-UI.

Re: Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
Sorry, my first reply was wrong. This is correct now:
I remember that I had an issue with my old z-Wave USB device when migrating from PI3B to PI4. I was using an AEON Labs ZW090 Z‐Stick Gen5 USB Controller. The ZW090 did only sometimes show up in the operating system and was not useable.
This PI4 hardware issue has never been resolved and I had to buy a new zWave USB device.
I am now using a Z-Wave.Me Z-Wave USB Stick UZB on the PI4.
I am still using the old ZW090 on a P3B with Domoticz.
Cheers
Al

Re: Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
Today I made again a new SD card for my Raspberry Pi 3B with bookworm 32-bit. Downgraded the kernel to 6.1 for the Z-wave stick. And installed domoticz 2025.2.
In the hardware list I could not find Open Z-wave.
When I put my domoticz backup back, I got an error message in the hardware overview: ???? Unknown (NA/Not supported).
The usb port was like it should be: /dev/serial/by-id/usb-0658_0200-if00
I tried to do a new install over it with: cd domoticz and ./updaterelease
Opened the site in incognito browser etc.
But none of it helps.
Looks like Open Z-wave is not in 2025.2 any more?
Everything is working fine in 2025.1.
I also see an hardware type named: Unknown

Re: Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
Did you build Domoticz yourself? Did you include OpenZwave in the build?
For the prebuilds from https://www.domoticz.com/downloads/ even in latest 2025.2 beta I can select OpenZwave in the hardware gateway.
It does not matter if the USB is available or not.

No I don't built my own Domoticz. I install it from the official site: sudo bash -c "$(curl -sSfL https://install.domoticz.com)"
I have the same issue on 4 different Raspberry Pi's: 2x 3B, 4B and a Zero 2w. No Open Z-wave hardware in list in version 2025.2.
On the 4B I updated from 2025.1 to 2025.2, and then Open Z-wave disappeared. Was visible in 2025.1.
On the Zero 2W it was not visible in 2025.1 and also not in 2025.2.
Luckily I am using just one Raspberry Pi 3B with Domoticz and Open Z-wave usb stick.

It is there 2025.2, it is not deleted so I still think it is related to browser cache....
I also think a lot more people using OpenZwave would have the same issue.

And again, it is deprecated and you need to move to ZWaveJS-UI, it's 2026, OZW is dead for some years, maybe migrate this year?

If you want to stick with OZW for now, maybe try to work with persistant USB devices (it is described in the Wiki).

Re: Disappearance of Open Z-Wave USB in version 2025.2
It seems that the armv7 stable build (eg for RPI4) has no Openzwave integrated, the other builds seems OK.
see issue https://github.com/domoticz/domoticz/issues/6508
The latest beta should solve it.

Not sure many RPI4 users still use this 32bit ARM release as PI >= 3 are 64bit capable and raspbian 64b exists since at least 3 years. Those should mostly use aarch64 IMO.waltervl wrote: Saturday 17 January 2026 14:06 It seems that the armv7 stable build (eg for RPI4) has no Openzwave integrated, the other builds seems OK.

So the users in this thread are using the 32bit version of bookworm or trixie and should use the 64 bit version?
