more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
I hope I'm not kicking in an open door here, but may I suggest an improvement that I'm sure makes daily viewing of Domoticz better?
-> What I would highly appreciate is the option to not only mark a sensor to appear as favourite in dashboard, but also in which subsection and if it consists of multiple readouts (like temp/hum/airpressure) to be able to suppress any of the others that I don't want to see.
What I see happening now:
1- If I want a temp/hum/bar sensor as favourite, automaticly this "costs" me a position in both temperature and weather for the airpressure. But the second one is not worthy of showing on dashboard.
2- If I like cloudcover (Visual Crossing) to show as favourite, it shows under "utility" where I'm sure this is something to show under 'weather' !!!
3- I'm also convinced that temperature is one of the most important properties of the 'weather' in general, yet it has its own section like it has nothing to do with that. Totally no logic there for me...
=> maybe it would even be better if there were no subsections in the dashboard, it only limits the freedom of organising.

Agree.
Would be nice to have a possibility to choose under which tab a device appears.
Or create extra tabs where the devices can be placed.
My own solution is to gather data in text sensors which are placed on the dashboard.
Text sensors are the perfect placeholders for several lines of information, for instance combining all relevant weather data in one sensor.

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
This is one of the most requested features but it requires a major overhaul of the webgui. So if you have some time you are free to implement this
Alternatively you can use the additional Dashticz dashboard application or use the roomplan functionality to group and display the devices according your preferences.

yes I can imagine adding user selections to the existing prescribed sections, would impact the webgui. However I do not see why weather sensors are considered "utilities"
(how many solar radiators do you have at home? ohw at least four of them.... haha)

That are choices made long time ago and not easy to change. But please investigate some time in the 2 alternatives I gave you.

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
I have been using Dashticz a lot for grouping of sensors and also did set up a roomwith floorplan for a specific case. Indeed, the possibility to put sensors on a separate tab directly in Domoticz would be great, but now I have discovered a new (to me at least!!) and easy way of achieving almost the same:HvdW wrote: ↑Friday 21 March 2025 21:06 Agree.

1) Create a roomplan and add all devices that you want in the same group to that roomplan. It does not matter what type of device it is and in which tab it occurs by default.
2) Go to the dashboard and select the roomplan with the drop-down box in the top left corner.
It will now show all those devices in the group, even if they were not selected as favorites. No need for a floorplan and no need for dashticz if you just want a simple grouping.
I was not aware of this and therefore I am sharing this find here for the benefit of others.

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
Thanks for thinking along with us here Willem, but as you can see in my post where I display the room named "all meteo" which groups all sensors according to my preference, it is exactly what you described
Never mind, always good to know you're solving things too, cheers Erni

What about adapting the custom dashboard?
Bugs bug me.

That is an option if you need more customisation and you are prepared to do more work to get there. The option with roomplan assignment as described only requires you to select device from a list and it will display the group, although in a standard domoticz layout.

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
What bothers me more even, is that combined sensors like THB (temp, humidity, pressure abbriviated as bar (another totally unlogic thing to do, if you use bar the abbriviation should be C%B (but hey who am I to judge))), that have therefor split their two displays in one tab 'Temperature' and one tab 'Weather' (since when is temperature not part of the weather???) : if you drag the barometer in the weather-tab, or the temp/hum-sensor in the temp-tab they influence each others positions among different tabs !!!
This is one of the reasons I'm gonna switch to OpenHAB to get a more consistant look at all the domotica at home and I do like Domoticz enough to have even a second server in my camper. But each update has brought me so much loss of time and troubles, that I'm now over and done.

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
but don't get me wrong : I have done (thanks to chatgpt's assistance in python programming) some great projects with Domoticz;
Like network statistics of my lan by pinging my grasbot that sits on the opposite side in the network and -by chance- appears to display perfectly the latency in the network when busy. Or this geo-fence I created using a usb-GPSsensor in my campervan, directly linked to email and PushSafer. It even produces a gpx-file when I'm out and about with it. Also I managed a text-label-sensor that indicates the volume occupation of a NAS and warns me. How cool is that? For reading the PV stats, I build a MQTT-bridge between Shelly+1pm to Domoticz cause I saw no other way to get it working, but now it does.
On the other hand after 13 years of development and updates, still in the Dutch version, English texts appear. How come?

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
Hi,
It looks to me your reactions are from the heart and not from the mind..
Yes, some things are annoying for a short while, but as soon as you have conquered the /current/ problem you feel great that you mastered it..(I do..)
For the 1st thing you posted i can see that it is a bit annoying to see things not going exact to your liking, i also have some things i would like to see different but most things where decided to work like that many years ago and would be a complete overhaul of the program to fix a tiny annoyance.
The last thing... realy?
Just sleep a night on it and tomorrow everything is clear.
Your pythonscript-devices look nice, you could ask the ai-gods to write a script that takes the values from the meteo devices and put them into a dummy witch you can put on the dashboard, or condens everything into 1 text-device as a weather-report...

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
Nice ideas! but I'm in for something new and curious how things are organised in OpenHAB.
(about NL-EN it is of course no "problem" at all, it's just that I often wonder, am I the only one seeing this? Like Windows2.0 had a bug it copied the last file from a list first, and then the rest. Leaving the result of the copied files with the last one sorted on top in stead of last. Windows10 twenty-eight years ago!! still has this "problem/bug" and hides it with quickly updating the sort-by-name if you're lucky. But I guess its me over-analysing what I'm looking at...)

You are more then welcome to fix this 'last-seen', it's a CSS limitation (or my limitation)
It is defined in legacy.css

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
right, well I guess if you can't fix it, I certainly won't be able to as well! Not that much of a programmer and certainly not up2date with limitations etc. Too bad though, it looks like a simple 'forgotten issue' but not.

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
I'm afraid not... this has been discussed before on the forum.
I am by no means a CSS guru... and there are much better devs that could probably fix this.
One fix would be to replace this text when creating a new widget and remote it from CSS
If you give them all the same idea, you could probably replace them all with one function call

Re: more options for sensors to appear in the dashboard
Don't get me wrong, cause I might seem to be "just complaining" about Domoticz, but I'm more than VERY HAPPY about Domoticz!
Did some real fun projects in the past couple of years, for example measuring waterpressure, waterflow, and above all waterlevel in our 18 meter deep 200 year old well. Have a look if you will at :
Here are some recent screenshots from which I can now conclude waterlevel stays very steadily between ½ and 1½ meter, always!
