Domoticz 2025.1 Tado plugin authorisation problem

Post by Afterburner »

I was happy to see the Tado authorisation problem I mentioned in March was solved in the new Domoticz 2025.1 update today.

I saw the hint/instruction in the Status log how to act: 'Copy and paste the below URL in your browser and follow the steps in your browser.'etc.

After the copy-paste of 'https://login.tado.com/oauth2/device?user_code=XXXXXX' I got an error:

{
"error" : "invalid_request",
"error_description" : "The request is missing a required parameter: client_id",
"error_reason" : "missing_client_id"
}

What is going wrong here?

I read 'https://support.tado.com/en/articles/85 ... e-rest-api' which is mostly developer stuff.

Any advise?

Tried the URL with the user_code again today. Same error appeared.

Looking into Settings/hardware/Tado. There a saw a knob, orange with the text 'Aanpassen'(Adapt). After using that new option it disappeared and next text appeared in the Status log:
Worker stopped.
Worker started.
Retrieved webapp environment from API.
We need to authenticate ourselfs.

After this message the URL showed a new user_code. After copy/pasting this URL in a browser the proces started:
I got a respons with the user_ID already in place. After a login with my Tado account I got the message 'Apparaat verbonden' (Connected) from Tado.

Errors disapparead in the log and Status log mentioned two Tado messages:
Registered Home etc
Registered Zone etc

Problem solved, but why was this temporary orange knob/function not mentioned anywhere to help us??

Nevertheless, thanks everyone who helped solving this issue in the new Domoticz release....

Hi,

After a reboot I get the message to register again, as expected.
It has worked... but now I get the following error:

We're sorry, your request was malformed or was unable to be completed for some reason. Try hitting the back button and restarting the process to see if it fixes the problem.

If you want the nerdy explanation, review the following JSON body.
{
"error" : "invalid_request",
"error_description" : "The request is missing a required parameter: client_id",
"error_reason" : "missing_client_id"
}

Error log domoticz:
2025-05-16 16:14:32.241 Error: TADO: No such home/zone combo found: 0/1

I am using the latest beta Version: 2025.1 (build 16695)
Kind regards,

@sloeber70,

I suppose you have read the above mentioned topic and used the copy/pasted URL from the status log message?

If yes, could you contact me on our Slack channel and please mention a reference to this topic.

First step: removed the Tado plugin.
Installed Tado, watched the log and waited too long, so the code wasn't valid anymore.
Second attempt success.
@devellopers, Thanks for your efforts.
Bugs bug me.

Just switched to Tado. Installed the hardware, configured the token. Weirdly, I only have 1 device showing up: the away device. Switching that crashes domoticz... Switching it from the Tado app switches the domoticz device.

I am on a reasonably up to date version dated april 8th after which no updates for Tado.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Hi,

Two days ago I updated to Domoticz 2025-1 (stable).
Next thing I got my Tado plugin up and running again using the login link from the log.
Unfortunatly since yesterday evening it failed updating; there is no longer any data from Tado.

Log says "2025-05-22 19:03:05.797 Error: Tado: Failed to retrieve API environment from https://app.tado.com/env.js"

Anybody any idea what can be done about this?

I followed the link to slack but i dont have an account for that.
Removing hardware seems a bit rigorous to me as i will loose a lot of data (but if nesserary i will)

See viewtopic.php?p=325972#p325972

Tado changed their API again, you have to update to latest beta but be aware you have to be on a recent linux OS (min bookworm) to run latest beta! Or use docker...

I'm on Raspberry OS with all updates installed; would that function?

Also i just wrote a complaint to Tado to stop messing around with the api. The only reason i have tado is it's domoticz integration!
If more Domotocz users experience problems with Tado api please write to Tado to stop messing around.

To see if you need to upgrade your OS you need to check if your system has OpenSSL version 3 support, you can issue the below command:

Code: Select all

openssl version
It should be 3 and not 1.

As said I reached out to Tado.
After some standard answers I got a message they were done fiddling around with the API!

Thanks bro!
This worked for me too, I did not get it to work without pressing the Update button first like described above, getting a new User Code on Tado.

Note that Tado is adding new usage limits to their cloud api.
Users that don't pay for the additional features will slowly move to a 100 api requests/day limit was announced.

On another forum hey explained that they are introducing this slowly over 6 months, reducing bit by bit... Currently +- 18000 request per day for free plan is the status in early 2025-11.

This will most likely make the current Domoticz integration stop working as expected, unless Tado changes their plans.

This is explained and discussed in another topic on the forum as well

Also a workaround is implemented, though this mainly works for the people that pay.

I think backends used for free will become rare in the future.
