Open Weather Map API migration
I have received an Email by Open Weather Map that "migration from One Call 2.5 to One Call 3.0" must be done until June 2024. Do I have to do this migration in order to keep the Api-Key of the Open Weather Map Plugin? I am a little afraid that after migration it would not work anymore. Or that without migration it will not work. Any idea or experiences?

Re: Open Weather Map API migration
Have the same here, as i understand they give up the "free" part of the service. Yes, they mention that you have 1,000 API calls per day for free,
but..... you have now to provide your credit card to get also the "free" subscription. At least i will not spread my credit card data due to probaply security issues.
Any mention of an alternate service?

Thx for your reply. I also will not provide my credit card data. So let's see how long the Domoticz plugin will work. I am also curious for suggestion about alternatives.

Re: Open Weather Map API migration
Hi
Everyone, who has a registered One Call API key at OpenWeatherMap will receive a message about the update from API version 2.5 to API version 3.0, as follows:
I had to use the new API 3.0 key.
Registering with your credit card information will be for a number of users a "no go".
One Call API works fine and does not give any issues, except the registration.
In that case you might want to use "Visual Crossing" and also have a look at viewtopic.php?p=304172&hilit=open+meteo#p304172.

The Domoticz OpenWeather hardware has been updated 3 weeks ago. In my case I had to register with a credit card and also the old API did not work.Important news!
It’s time to switch from One Call 2.5 to One Call 3.0!
One Call API 2.5 to be closed
Dear OpenWeather user,
We would like to inform you about our plans to complete the migration from One Call 2.5 to One Call 3.0 that started 2 years ago. In line with this, access to One Call 2.5 will be finally closed in June 2024.
One Call 3.0 provides you with significantly advanced business-demanded features such as a minute forecast for 1 hour, 4 days forecast for any timestamp, a daily forecast for 8 days, including a human-readable summary, historical data (45-year archive) for timestamps, and with daily aggregation, 1.5-year long-term forecast with daily aggregation, and others.
Click here for One Call 3.0 migration guide (https://openweathermap.org/one-call-transfer)
One Call 3.0 is free 1,000 calls/day
One Call 3.0 offers a flexible monthly subscription with a ‘pay-as-you-call’ scheme. You have 1,000 calls/day for free and pay only £0.0012 for each additional call. Please note, the OneCall 3.0 subscription requires credit card details. We use your payment card details only for those calls that go beyond the free limit. If you do not want to exceed a free limit you can always set a daily threshold for your account.
You don’t need to get new API keys, all your current API keys will work with One Call 3.0 after subscription.
I had to use the new API 3.0 key.

Re: Open Weather Map API migration
The One Call 2.5 still works for me but today I've got another mail, that the API 2.5 will be shut down 14th of October 2024.
Had too bad experience with giving someone my Credit Card data and unfortunately they do not offer PayPal. So bye bye for this service for me.
But "Meteorologisk institutt Norway (Weather Lookup)" willstill work...

How can "Meteorologisk institutt Norway" be used in Domozicz? Can't find anything on the Wiki.

Re: Open Weather Map API migration
Uhhh, I'm on Domoticz since 2014 and now I found "Visual Crossing" in the HW-Settings.
Works like a charm and data is much more precise than data from old "Open weather map" for me.

I don't find any free no-credit-card option in the registration.elythomaslumber wrote: ↑Thursday 17 October 2024 11:03 Uhhh, I'm on Domoticz since 2014 and now I found "Visual Crossing" in the HW-Settings.

VC only needs your E-Mail address for a free account. No Credit Card must be indicated.

Thank you very much, it works now. In fact I had an old account in which free plan could not be selected. I deleted the account and created a new one.imautohuttraeger wrote: ↑Monday 28 October 2024 13:08 VC only needs your E-Mail address for a free account. No Credit Card must be indicated.

But in the account tab I see "Renews: Nov 28, 2024". What does that mean in your opinion ?

I don't know. A free account obviously renews from month to month. I think it should motivate people to upgrade to a fee-paying account.

Re: Open Weather Map API migration
I am using Visual Crossing for more than a year, no problems. As long as you do not enter payment details like a credit card they never can charge you for something. I also did not have do that....
So do not be afraid to create an account and use it. Domoticz will definitely not ask more than 1000 calls a day.

Re: Open Weather Map API migration
Hi guys
@madpatrick, I hope you found the good parameters.
On my side, I have validated the subscription with 1000 free calls per day, and I use the following parameters:
The only issue I have now, the descriptions are in english whatever the language I use: es, fr, ...
So is there a bug? or is there a new parameter for the language?
PS: when I use http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/ ... appid=XXXX, I have the french description.
Thanks for helping
