Hi Guys.
I am trying to upgrade from 2020.2 to 2024.2 (i know, long jump). i am currently using OpenZwave with Aeotec Gen5 stick. I made a clean install of 2024.2 and imported domoticz.db from 2020.2.
The problem i am facing - i got issues with many zwave devices (thermostats, dimmers, keyfobs). For example, i sent command to dimmer but nothing happens, also device state is not reflected in domoticz. some devices works fine. I can set temperature on thermostat but domoticz does not reflect it and other way around - if temperature set in domoticz, thermostat does not see it even if i wake thermostat up. I see devices re-discovered in Hardware, and respective devices are present in Device menu. after rollback to 2020.2 all devices are working just fine.
Is there anything i can do before i start deleting devices from domoticz and zwave stick and re-adding them back?
Thanks

Re: issues with zwave devices after uprade
There may be config file changes for the HW, even if 2020.2 was already built using OWZ 1.6 after 1.4 transition (last 1.4 based was v4.10717).
So, maybe following this advice and on 2024.2 again, after stopping OZW (enable switch off, or whole domoticz) copy ozwcache_XXX.xml to ozwcache_XXX.xml.old in ~/domoticz/Config, then restart OZW.
This'll trigger a full re-discovery of devices at start according to current configs & may help.

Don't think resetting all devices/z-stick should anyway be needed. Maybe some clues are present in domoticz logs as well (log in a file if needed, after modifying domoticz startup script).
Searching on the forum, you may still find many other debug tips for OZW but if I sometimes had a few issues on some devices after restart (triggered or not by upgrades) or a power fail, recovery goes from a manual wake-up or unplug-replug/power-cycle again, for my Qubino smart-meter a 'refresh node info' from OZW control panel then reconfigure as a second option, to exclude-re-include but that's quite rare... Never had to rebuild everything since I started in 2016, hopefully, as I have 10's of nodes!

Re: issues with zwave devices after uprade
Thanks for the hint. I managed to recover most of the devices after cleaning the cache and waking them up.
I am still facing strange issue with Thermostats - I can see them discovered in hardware section, model is being reported correctly, the device wakes up every 5 minutes and sets last seen timer, battery level is properly reported too. However the data in devices list is not refreshed (time, temperature, last seen, etc), i can set the temperature but it is not passed to device and other way around - if set on thermostat it is not refreshing in devices section.
I excluded one thermostat from the zwave network and joined it back - it was added to hardware list, again properly identified, but no respective devices created in device section. I rolled back domoticz to 2020.2, repeated exclude and include and got my thermostat back working perfectly with respective devices re-created. The other thermostats are working right away on 2020.2 too
Any suggestions please what else can i do to recover my thermostats when using 2024.2? It seems i have the same kind of issues with dimmers, but i can live without them for some time, thermostats are more important during winter days
I also tried different browsers to make sure this is not a browser cache issue.
The thermostats i have are: Danfoss Z Thermostat 014G0013
The Dimmers: Qubino (Goap) ZMNHHDx Mini Dimmer+
Thanks again

Hello, all i can say is my heaters control devices seen as dimmers are qubino devices most probably derived from your devices.
They were made by qubino for a french specific control mode mandatory for electric heaters since the 1980's called pilot wire.
Can tell those are working on 2024.2, in winter I could also not leave without them!

Re: issues with zwave devices after uprade
thanks. sadly i am not as lucky as you are to get the devices work
is there any workaround i may try when device is discovered in Hardware but does not pop up in Devices? like manually create it?
I was thinking about Dummy devices, but i haven't found a way how can i map those to Hardware discovered devices.

If it is discovered in hardware and showing up in the device list (menu setup - devices) but not in the device tabs then you eitherEugene wrote: ↑Monday 22 January 2024 12:03 thanks. sadly i am not as lucky as you are to get the devices work

a. have to enable them (click on the green arrow) or
b. check device assignment in menu Setup - Users. If you are an admin then the assigned devices list (right column) should be empty.
c. you put all the devices by accident in the room $Hidden

Re: issues with zwave devices after uprade
Thanks, waltervl. unfortunately in my case the devices were added in hardware but not added into Menu -> Setup -> Devices
P.S. perhaps it is a right time to make zwave-js-ui work!
