Zigate USB and NXP issue

Post by JanZorz »

Hey,

This is what I see in logs and some devices started to time out until I removed some that were not necessary. I have now 31 devices connected.

"NXP_Extended_Error_Code - Extended Error Code: [87] No free entries in the extended address table (resource error) - this table is configured in the ZPS Configuration Editor"

Zigate (first version) USB
Plugin: 7.1.001 [2.82]
Firmware: Zigate - 0321

Few questions:
- how can I fix the address table?
- should I upgrade to 323 firmware?
- if I upgrade - will I have to re-register all devices again?

- with that number of devices (and growing) - should I look at ordering a Zigate+ USB controller?
- if that happens - can I just replace the USB controller, switch it to "Accept new hardware", re-register all the devices and the devices in Domoticz will stay the same?

Sorry for many questions...

Cheers, Jan

Here users with the same issue viewtopic.php?f=68&t=40635

The solution topic mention to update https://zigate.fr/forum/topic/zigate-nx ... ostid-2995
From that topic, translated from french:
The 0x87 error on the ZiGate v1 can be caused by 2 things.
- either 1 PDM table (memory) is full. This can happen if more than 20 devices are connected directly to the zigate without going through routers
- or the PDM is corrupted.

This error implies that you will normally not be able to add devices

For ZiGate V1 do you have legacy or OPDM firmware?

If you have the legacy version, you will unfortunately have to reflash to the OPDM version and start by pairing the routers first, then the devices on the stack last.

Hi,

thank you for the answer. I saw that post already, dut it was not very descriptive for me. I'll upgrade to OPDM firmware and cross fingers.

Anyway - what about ordering a Zigate+ v.2 USB controller and replace the old one? Would the devices in Domoticz stay the same? Should I need just to re-pair them with new USB controller and that's it? Any experience with that?

I updated from a Zigate to a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB device. No more issues with connecting and stability.
You have to pair the devices again with the controller (also with Zigate+) but as the device ID stays the same the Domoticz devices keep working. So nothing to do in Domoticz.

With "pair again" do you mean just to put the controller in "Add new hardware" mode, go around the house and press (and hold) the buttons on all devices to re-establish the connection?

The first question is do you have any issue in the behaviour of your Zigbee devices and network. If not I would keep it like that.

The issue is related to a bad configuration of the Zigate firmware, and you might report that to the Zigate manufacturer whom can help you on that.

Even, If I still support zigate with the plugin I move to more open/standard zigbee coordinators like Texas Instrument based on Silicon Labs, with which I don't have any more problem.

Thank you for your answer... Yes, I had issues with the behavior, after adding a few more devices the older ones started to time out.

The other issue is the network topology - When I try to generate it - only 4 or 5 devices show up on the map. I tried to find that setting for siblings, but it doesn't exist anymore. Anyway - I'll replace the old Zigate with a Sonoff USB controller and see if things improved.

Cheers, Jan
