Hi, I get the "No favorite devices or communication lost" after an Ubuntu upgrade to Jammy
and cannot log in, either with my own usr/pw or the default admin/domoticz.' The domoticz db contains all settings.
This is the same over 127. 0. 0. 0 or the router IP.

Solved after repeated service restarts and one step
in the middle, a step that may have done it: chmod a+rw domoticz_db in user space such that the root service could address it.
Not funny. Running a house has become an industrial process and Domoticz is the single point of failure (SPOF).
Better have all your original remote controls handy and inform your significant other about the technical details.
I'll think twice when I see the pushy Ubuntu OS upgrade suggestion in the future. Embedded should be what it implies:
Autonomous and without frequent human intervention.

I sort of agree with your statement about Embedded, but domoticz is not an ‘embedded system’ as that would imply we also need to control the hardware/os it run on and the hardware connected interfaces.VanDeVijver57 wrote:…

Currently domoticz is ‘just’ Open Source Software that runs on a plethora of hardware&OS’ses and support a very wide variety of directly- or indirectly connected hardware it tries to manage.
There are solutions on the market that probably better fit your ‘embedded system’ requirement but they are most likely much more expenses, not Open Source, only have a limited set of supported hardware and so on.
It is up to you to choose how you support such ‘critical house infrastructure’ (and I agree it easily becomes critical), either you are the main ‘support engineer’ or you ‘outsource’ it to a vendor by buying a standardized- and supported (but likely limited) system on the market.
BTW: we are always open for additional developers and/or donations so we can spend more time on keep making domoticz better and better
