Fibaro FGR223 Roller Shutter 3 physical buttons cannot control the slats angle?

Post by andrehj »

Today I found out that my Venetian blinds (controlled by a Fibaro FGR223 Roller Shutter 3) will only move maybe ~10 cm down when using the physical buttons connected to the Fibaro controller. And it will also move back up using the other button. But as soon as the blinds (Raffstores) are passed these first ~10 cm, the buttons stop working.

From Domoticz everything is working fine.

I also updated Domoticz to version 2023.1 last weekend, so I suspect there is a connection....

Does anybody know how I can get the full functionality of my physical buttons back? (I'm using zwave-js-ui, if that is of any help).

Update: Problem is not related to version 2023.1, I just found out that due to the strange reaction of the FGR223 on short pulses the working of the momentary switches has completely changed now the FGR223 is in between. See below: viewtopic.php?p=300007#p300007

Is anything happening in Domoticz acting on the change of the position, when you use those switches, since updates are send to Domoticz and a script could be interfering?

In 2023.1 threw are several changes made for the rolling shutter switches. There is mainly some harmonization done between up, down, open close etc. In the buttons but also in DzEvents.
Best to start with the settings of the button itself, then verify if your scripts also do what you expect.
I also use the FGR223 and got them working again.

Yes. Just checked. In Domoticz the blinds change from completely open to completely closed (not to be confused with up / down). It looks like the buttons only operate during the 150 x 0.01 seconds time set for the parameter "[14-112-0-152] Venetian blind - time of full turn of the slats".

There is no script interfering, I have no scripts at all doing anything with these blinds.

But I have no scripts running with these Venetian blinds. I have only used the FGR223 since a few weeks (waited for 2022.2, since that version solved most of the problems (which it did)).
And in 2022.2 everything worked fine, but now (in 2023.1) the physical buttons, wired directly to the FGR223, do not work anymore like they should... :(

Do your buttons work? And do you also have Venetian blinds which have both open/close and up/down?

My physical buttons do work but have a sunscreen so only up and down. Most trouble I had was due to the fact that I use the beta versions and there where several changes made during the beta updates and also several changes where reverted back. I use an automatic script that lowers and raises the screens depending on several parameters. Besides that the buttons kept working only sometimes the buttons where reversed.

Physical button operation can not be interfered by Domoticz other than via settings in the device itself: physical buttons will even work when no controller is present at all. andrejh's problem must therefor be something in the z-wave node's options. Did you try re-calibrating your shutter 3?

You are right. I was wrong. This issue has nothing to do with Domoticz version 2023.1

It is just the same when Domoticz (or mosquitto) is switched off.

I just did some further investigation and found out that by adding the FGR223 between the buttons and the Venetian blinds the working of the buttons has completely changed.

The problem is:
Without the FGR223, if I wanted to move the blinds up or down, I had to press and hold the down switch, until the blinds were down.
With the FGR223, I just have give a short pulse on the switch to move the blinds completely up or down.

So far, it looks like an improvement.

However, we also used to control the angle of the slats by short pulsing the physical switches. These short pulses are now interpreted as a command to completely move the blinds up or down, making controlling the angle of the slats with the physical switches impossible. (= very negative WAF  )

So the question should be: does anybody know how to control the angle of the slats with the physical buttons with a Fibaro Roller Shutter?

You need to go through the options on your shutter 3's node in the z-wave panel. There you can set the behaviour of the shutter 3. One of the things you can set is the type of physical switch(es) you connected to the shutter 3. I am not sure which exact settings will result in the behaviour you're looking for, but I am sure that this screen is where you will find your answer. That is: if you're still using openzwave. If you're using ZWaveJS-UI, you'll have to find the equivalent page for setting your z-wave device's options in there. (when using ZWaveJS-UI I think you need to go in your browser to http://<ip of your domoticz>:8091 and from there find the device options screen).
