Honeywell HGI80 - where can I find one? (UK)
Hello, first post on here for me, so naturally I will start with a request for help!
I have recently installed a Honeywell Evohome system in my home and am still in the process of bedding it in. Am at the stage where I want to see the data for each of the temperature sensors so I can prove that everything is working properly. Have discovered Domoticz as a result and have looked at the web API integration which doesn't seem to give me temperature down to the individual device - just at zone level - I have some multi room zones set up.
Which then brings me on to the HGI80, as if I understand this correctly, this will provide a richer data set and specifically will allow me to capture the temperature readings over time. The trouble is, I cannot seem to find anywhere or anyone that sells them?
I live in the UK, if anyone can help in any way I would be very grateful.
All the best

If you have a look over on automated homes forum there is a thread on a SSM-D2 USB device that a lot of people including myself have had great results with and is a direct replacement for a HG180. There’s a link to the UK based guy who assembles them too. Do a search for “Getting started with the SSM(R) instead of an HGI80”. The SSM(R) was a previous model so it’s the SSM-D2 which is the current model.
Hope this helps

This is the product that Midland45 is referring to:
https://indalo-tech.onlineweb.shop/SSM- ... 84696.aspx
Looks like he currently has some in stock. I have one myself, extremely easy to set up and works perfectly. Just plug it in, add the 'Evohome USB' hardware item in domoticz, enter your controller ID and then wait a while for it to discover all your zones. Click the 'all devices' button to make it add the individual devices for your multi room zones.
Highly recommended!

Hi,
There is a tutorial on installing a HGI80 on the Domoticz website but to install it properly you need a lot of knowledge of Linux. It's not written for the average Domoticz user like me. Is the installation of the SSM-D really so much simpler? I can't find a tutorial on the SSM-D so I can't check for myself.

Its actually relatively easy to get working. Pretty much plug n play on a pc, Raspberry pi similar, but just needed to point domoticz at the correct port.

I ordered one. Let's see if it works better than the API way.

Re: Honeywell HGI80 - where can I find one? (UK)
It's been about a year and a half since I got my SSM, but I don't recall needing to install any device drivers for it. I think I just plugged it into the USB port, restarted the Pi, and then it appeared in the drop-down list of serial ports on the config page for the 'Evohome USB (For HGI/S80)' hardware in Domoticz as "/dev/serial/by-id/usb-SparkFun_evofw3_atmega32u4-if00" (YMMV).
I then followed the steps from this point on the Wiki page to get everything set up...
https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Evohome#A ... Domoticz_2
My experience has been that it works MUCH better than the API method
EDIT - I should also add that you can use Domoticz's 'replace hardware' feature to replace your old API-generated temperature devices with your new USB-generated ones, to preserve the log history from when you were using the API (disable the API in the hardware list before you do this, otherwise the API hardware instance will probably try to create new duplicate devices)

Just a heads up that you also need to add the Evohome Controller ID into Domoticz, it is found in Settings/Device Settings (10second press) if using the USB device.

Hi,
The SSM-D2 arrived a couple of days ago. It works like a charm but I have a couple of questions, I hope you have the answers.
1. There's a device called Hot Water with value "0.0 C, 327.67, Auto". I think these values are not used since I don't control my hot water through Domoticz. Am I right? 32767 is 2^15-1, so I guess its a 15-bit value from 0 to 32767, to be devided by 100 to get the right value.
2. There's a device called Return Water Temperature with value 0.0. Is this the return temperature of the central heating and if yes, why is it 0.0?
3. Is a command available to get the program of a zone?
Peter

1) My non existent hot water is the same (why can I no longer copy and past values from Domoticz)
2) Strangely I don't seem to have a Return value, although I do have an opentherm bridge. (I do have flow and return values from an opentherm gateway though) but thats not related.
if you have an echo show you may find this interesting.

Re: Honeywell HGI80 - where can I find one? (UK)
Hi
I've just purchased an ssm-D2 from indalo-tech onlineweb shop SSM-D2 to allow me to connect directly to my Evohome system.
The device seems to partially connect via USB and com7 with the heating and hot water switches showing on Domoticz but nothing else.
Reading some of the earlier posts it seems this may be an issue with the Evohome controller ID.
My controller doesn't seem to have the same menu options as suggested on the wiki and the only thing I can find is "Thermostat CRC" on the wifi setting page
Is this the controler ID or do I need to look elsewhere ?
thanks
SB

I've found it. (Note to self RTFM)
1. Press once on "SETTINGS".
2. Keep the "DEVICE SETTINGS" button pressed until "SYSTEM INFORMATION" is displayed.
