I updated Domoticz today to the latets beta, did load the new firmware on the Doorbell/Alarm 6, excluded and included the device but there is no difference. It still does not work.

Today @GIZMOCUZ reached out to me that my suggested modification (other thread) had been implemented in the new Betá (14016). You can imagine that I could not wait to try. So I upgraded my Domoticz install.... after the reboot gave it a try...... and it worked !!!!
When pressing one of the sound buttons in Domoticz a sound is playing.

Whoho! Nice to hear that!
What about the volume control? Are we able to change the volume and the tones too?

What firmware are you using on your doorbell?

I am using firmware ZW164_Siren 6_EU_V1_06. The volume and tones are not configurable via Domoticz, but if you pre-set them as described by yourself earlier in this post using Z-Wave PC Controller then it is usable. Domoticz creates 8 different buttons to trigger 8 different sounds which all individually can have a melody and volume. For me that is more than sufficient. I only need three of them.

I just did some research again. Volume and tones should be configurable via the OZW Controlpanel inside Domoticz (I did not test it by myself for now). And this should also be changeable via JSON calls. So it should be easy make a virtual switch to mute the doorbell for example.

My scenario: Mute the doorbell when the children are asleep. Or at least turn down the volume.

Can I ask in which scenarios you are playing the different sounds?

I will use 4 sounds. 2 Doorbell sounds, Security and Environment.
Doorbell 1 = Front Door
Doorbell 2 = Backdoor
Security = Home Security Alarm
Environment = Fire detectors + CO Detector

In your case if you configure Doorbell 1 and Doorbell 2 with the same melody but with different volumes then you can trigger the doorbell with the lower volume while your kids are in bed.

With the beta I am running right now the OZW Control Panel seems to have disappeared, not sure why but I cannot access it at this moment.

Hello, it's been a long time since I tried, I no longer had access to my OZW Control Panel either because there is an encoding problem when integrating the Doorbell 6 into Open Zwave.

The following issue is open on their github, but it doesn't work so far : https://github.com/OpenZWave/open-zwave/issues/2085

I have included the siren, but i can not change the volume and tones. Not even inthe OZW contol panel. every thing i change, it changes back.
Is there a solution or workaround?

Yes, but unfortunately not with the domoticz system. You need extra software on a windows system:
Hencor wrote: Tuesday 03 September 2019 21:07 I just managed to configure the volume and the tone witch is trigged with the button.

Its a solution past domoticz. I used the windows software "Z-Wave PC Controller 5" to send the right commands to the doorbell. I just downloaded the software and plugged my Aeotec Z-Stick in. So I could communicate with each device in my Zwave network. With the help of the Aeotec Engineering Specifications (from the 2019-01-17) it's easily possible to detect the right command (classes) to configure each tone and volume for each trigger (Button 1-3, Tamperalarm, Zwave Alarm, etc).

Well, I just forgot to make some screenshots...

You could try to move to ZwaveJS2MQTT as it is the current preferred gateway for Zwave in Domoticz: https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/ZwaveJS2MQTT
OpenZwave is being deprecated in Domoticz because there is no development anymore in OZW.

ZwaveJS2MQTT seems to work with this device: https://github.com/OpenZWave/open-zwave ... -753373568
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)
Devices/plugins: ZigbeeforDomoticz (with Xiaomi, Ikea, Tuya devices), Nefit Easy, Midea Airco, Omnik Solar, Goodwe Solar

OpenZwave is being deprecated in Domoticz because there is no development anymore in OZW.
Would prefer to send back problematic hardware to vendor than changing z-wave backend, with almost everything to rebuild up from the ground!
All these MQTT driven stuff also looks to need a learning curve as it's mostly external to Domoticz and far from tight integration offered by OZW library.

And, did not dig into this for now & tell me if I'm wrong there... but looks strong advice is to use some containerization for mosquito and all clients (zwave, zigbee...) that directly connect to it: Issue is that's not only adding to the (formerly unneeded) learning curve but IMO most of the times is an external sign of a melting pot software done quick&dirty, reusing many avoidable dependencies & of course not willing to deal with the associated nightmare of managing them over time! Really don't like this kind of approach to SW.

In this case the hardware is not at fault. It is OZW that hasn't kept up with the advancing Z-Wave standards. The doorbell 6 is using parts of the protocol that didn't exist yet when OZW was written, i.e. this why the device can't be supported by OZW.

As much as I agree with your arguments against zwave2mqtt (I'm still on OZW myself too for mostly the same reasons), it does seem to support more recent versions of the Z-Wave protocol than OZW does.

Did someone manage to put the siren 6 in a group of a fibaro smoke sensor FGSD0002 such that the siren would go off if the fibaro detects smoke? If I add the siren to a fibaro group through Domoticz then the siren 6 node does not get added to the fibaro group. Using Domoticz 2022.1 stable and (still) OZW. I can add make the siren go off with a Domoticz switch so the siren<>Domoticz combi works fine.
