Beginner - cannot configure Z-Stick Gen5+

Post by mrmole »

I'm a complete beginner!

Hardware: Raspberry Pi4B running Raspberry PI OS (Buster), Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5+, Domoticz Version: 2021.1

It is a new install of the Raspberry Pi OS, and I have download Domoticz and installed it, I have have the Z-Stick Gen5+ plugged into a USB port of the Pi (tried both USB2 and USB3 ports).

lsusb:

Code: Select all

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0658:0200 Sigma Designs, Inc. Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 (ZW090) - UZB
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
If I go to 'Setup' 'Hardware' nothing shows up. What am I doing wrong?

If I remember well, this is a raspberry pi 4 USB problem. The solution was to use an usb2 hub, but maybe this is solved with an update too.
See this thread.

My understanding is that the Z-Stick Gen5+ fixed the problem that was with the Z-Stick Gen5. Maybe I am wrong?

You are right. I'm wrong here. The stick is seen in linux - lsusb. This is another problem.

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0658:0200 Sigma Designs, Inc. Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 (ZW090) - UZB
Did you select the right serial port for the zwave stick?
It should be something like:
- /dev/serial/by-id/usb-0658_0200-if00
or:
- /dev/ttyACM0

Where do I specify the serial port to use? 'Setup'>'Hardware' does not mention the Z-Stick.

If you go to Hardware. Select the OpenZwave device.

Then at the buttom you see: Serial port: ..
Where you can select a serial port. At least in my setup.

Thanks AllesVanZelf, that did it. Just how did you know to select 'OpenZwave' device for an Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5+?

The type is "OpenZwave USB" and you probably named it "OpenZwave" or something like that, too. :D
