Dummy device of type General, custom sensor and historical data

Hi

I have a Dummy sensor of type General Custom that I use to log hourly el-spot prices updated with a lua-script.
Works great, but now I wonder if domotics store data for this type of device for more than a year back?
I see other devices have this report-function where data is kept for years.
Is that possible also for Dummy device of type General, custom sensor ?
Or is there another type of sensor I can use to store price and be able to keep historical data for years ?
