I've installed Domoticz on a Windows 10 PC and all seemed to be going well and I left it ticking over. However, when I came to look at it again a day or two ago, I find that I'm getting errors writing the backup files (well over a week) and it looks like Domoticz.db hasn't changed for the same length of time. There are backups before that time, so things were working post install. I've tried a simple reboot
I've no idea what changed somewhere between 1 and 2pm on May 20th but, from the logs on my NAS, we did have power glitch at that time and that meant I had to restart the PC.
I seem to remember that I added it to the startup folder to get it to start on reboot after the power glitch - and I assume it's something to do with permissions but it's ages since I did much on a Windows PC and I'm not that up to speed on Windows 10. I'm an admin user and I assumed it would run under my ID with my permissions and I can write to the relevant folders).
Can anyone give me some pointers? There doesn't seem to be anything on startup in the Wiki

Re: Windows permissions & startup
One of the installations step will ask if you want to run it as an application or as a service https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Windows#Install
So the best option if you want to have Domoticz run after a reboot is to run it as a Service.Note: Run as application results in a Windows application installation related to the active Windows user and Domoticz can be started and stopped by that user.
Note: Run as service results in a Windows service installation not related to a Windows user and Domoticz will run in the background. The biggest benefit is that Domoticz will continue running even after the current user logs off (and will start running before a user logs on).

So do I need to reinstall it and choose that option?

Re: Windows permissions & startup
Yes, but also your current way of working should work (after you have logged in).
So now in your case Domoticz will start after reboot and you have logged in. Is that now the case?

Re: Windows permissions & startup
Yes, it starts. Doesn't fix the permissions problem and nor does shutting it down and restarting manually. It's odd as I can write to the folder and it's started undrr my user.
