how scared should i be?

Post by wkossen »

nice, a new version of Domoticz. But should i upgrade now? How risky is it? how many people succesfully upgraded already? what problems could arise? and how would i roll back if it fails? do i need full sd backup, or juist domoticz folder and db?

i'm always scared and worried about upgrades. they might break more than they fix. i tend to wait a bit for kinks to be ironed out. i'ld love to hear experiences of other users on this point. thanks for sharing!

And clear the browser cache on all your web clients: https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Browser_Cache

The only issue I see is that some electricity energy monitoring scripts report sometimes negative values. I personally have no issues at all.
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)
Devices/plugins: ZigbeeforDomoticz (with Xiaomi, Ikea, Tuya devices), Nefit Easy, Midea Airco, Omnik Solar, Goodwe Solar

'Stable' means that this version is not going to be changed for a long time.
It does not mean that there are no errors in the code, because there are.
Usually errors manifest themselve when many people install the stable version, and then these errors are fixed in the next beta and not in a new and improved stable.
See: https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Domoticz_ ... _-_Commits to check out the changes that were made after the 'stable' release.
Look for fixes that you might need (f.e. dzVents, etc.)
I can recommend to prefer a beta version with the right fixes over a 'stable' version.
AND: take the advice from @erem and @waltervl, seriously!

If you’re scared I advice to make a copy of the sd-card before the upgrade. If anything goes wrong, you’ll be up and running again after swapping the sd-card.
Blah blah blah
