Hi Forum,
Newbee question. I have recently installed Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 (ZWave controller) with 2 Eurotronics Spirit ZWave Plus radiator valve actuators. With help of this forum (thanks!!) I was able to get it installed in Domoticz (V4.10686) on RPI. It now does what it I wanted it to do: time control the heating in two rooms. However, a question remains related to some of the 12 devices which appear in Domoticz after installing the Spirit valve actuator. What are these supposed to be related to? Some are obvious, some not. It's about filling/correcting the 'purpose' column in the table in below.
Name / Type / Subtype / Data / Purpose
Level / Light/Switch / Switch / On / Valve position in %
Alarm Type / Light/Switch / Switch / Off / ?
Alarm Level / Light/Switch / Switch / Off / ?
Thermostat Mode / General / Thermostat Mode / Heat / mode
Heat / Thermostat / SetPoint / 22.0 / normal setpoint
Heat Eco / Thermostat / SetPoint / 18.0 / eco setpoint
Furnace / Thermostat / SetPoint / 0.0 / ?
Power Management / Light/Switch / Switch / Off / active when battery drops below 25%
System / Light/Switch / Switch / Off / ?
Alarm Type: Power Mngt (0x08) / General / Alarm / Event: 0xFE (254) / ?
Alarm Type: System 9 (0x09) / General / Alarm / Event: 0xFE (254) / ?
Temperature / Temp / LaCrosse TX3 / 21.0 C / Room temperature
There are a few functions I can choose from like battery low, battery replacement needed, Boost mode, Window open detected, but who is who?
Edit: updated 'Power Management' in table above

Re: use of devices from Eurotronic Spirit Zwave plus valve actuator
Hi forum,
Bumping my own post...
The Initial question I has was about some of the devices which show up after installing a Eurotronic Spirit radiator valve actuator in the Setup/Devices menu.
These are listed as:
If you set them as used, Alarm Type, Alarm Level, Furnace, Power Management and System show up in the 'Switch' tab, but still do not make much sense to me. The both 'Alarm Type' devices do not seem to show up in any tab.
I hope someone can explain it to this newbee. Specifically, since on of one of the valve actuators the batteries died and I did not notice any message in Domoticz. Running out of batteries is something that would be of interest to the user, So I'm guessing I missed something somewhere. Might this be linked to the above devices?
Any move information on the above mentioned devices and any suggestion on how to show battery status in Domoticz for the Eurotronic Spirit valve controller
Thanks!

Re: use of devices from Eurotronic Spirit Zwave plus valve actuator
Hi Domoberry,
I have installed a eurotronics spirit valve today. I understand you're question. I am looking for the answer to set the valve in % to have full control...
On the other side I have made I think a working solution for controlling temperature in a different room then my thermostat is...
In blockly I am reading the temperature sensor I already had at home for testing and with logic function I am setting the setpoint... That is working so far... But ok, it is already 8 days over 30 degrees here so a decent test is for later...
Because I fear the heat point is in relation to the temperature measured by the spirits valve internal temperature. So when I would set lower setpoint which is still above temp of internal sensor nothing would happen...
I would like to control how much I open the valve instead of doing that by hand...
Have you found a solution in the meantime? Someone else?
Thanks
Ger

Hi Ger,
I understand you want to control the thermostat valve directly (example: "open to 25%") as opposed to the default operating mode where you would set the thermostat to -say- 20°where the logic in the thermostat would control the valve in order to maintain the set temperature.
Here is my guess and problem (someone with more experience, please pitch in!):
I believe this is possible by changing the 'Mode' of the device. The device offers 5 modes:
With the 2020 releases of Domoticz, also a new version of Open Z-Wave was added. This is perhaps why previously I was not able to set the thermostat mode from the Domoticz UI, whereas now I am. You can use the 'Thermostat Mode' device in Domoticz to change the mode. Use the 'Edit' option to set the mode. For some reason, the Thermostat Mode device does not show the current mode by default.
One level 'deeper' in the OZCP (openZWave Control Panel) you can check and update the same mode (Access this panel via Setup / Hardware / <select the Z-Stick controller> / setup / Node management / control panel).
What confuses me however is that I can set all modes (off/heat/heat eco/Full) except "Manufacturer". This mode option is available in both the Domoticz UI as well as in OZCP, but it seems not to be effective. Anyone? Is there something not perfect in the Z-Wave config file for this device?
BTW also found that the "Power Management" device (a switch) is activated when the battery level drops below 25%. That might be an interesting one to activate in the Domoticz UI although 25% is a bit early. I have updated the table in the first post of this thread. some other ones still remain unclear to me.
