Hi,
I just bought a Popp Z-rain and I'm having some trouble with getting the right type of sensor. OpenZWave Control Panel recognizes the device as a Rain Rate Sensor, all fine by that. But in Domoticz the device shows up as a switch. Is there any way of manually/forcibly turn the rain rate sensor in to a sensor in Domoticz?
Setup
Domoticz 3.5877
Linux raspberrypi 4.9.36-v7+
OpenZwave 1.4-2228-gbce4a88-dirty
Popp Z-Rain

Hi,
Sorry for late answer but no I haven't
Is this addressed in the beta?

Re: Popp Z-Rain
Hmm. Looks like it does in some way. Now the sensor shows up as a sensor instead of a switch. Let's hope it will give me some values during next rain. (Probably this week)

Hi again,
And sorry for my late answer (seems to missed to set notification when receiving posts...)
I run the latest beta, 3.8146, and it shows like:

Re: Popp Z-Rain
I have the same Z-rain device and after including, it creates the same 4 devices as shown in the post of friday 4 august above. If I include these devices to show up in the interface tabs, the device of type "Rain" subtype "TFA" is included in the "Weather" Tab. The device of type "General" subtype "Custom Sensor" is included in the tab "Utility" and the switches are included in the switches tab.
I have some remarks/questions:
In my opinion the device of type "General" subtype "Custom Sensor" should end up in the "weather" tab as well. When I try to edit the device, I can only change the name, not the type or subtype. Is there a location somewhere hidden where I can adjust this myself?
I would consider it even better if the measurements mm/h (current intensity) and mm (total amount during the past hour) would show up in one graph, similar to electric power consumption measuring devices that display in one graph both kW (current power) and kWh (total energy) values.
I expected one of the two switches to turn on when it starts to rain and the other to indicate "heavy rain", but after several rain showers, I have not seen either of the switches turn on. Does someone know what these switches indicate?
One of my intentions was to use the rain sensor as a trigger to raise the window screens when it starts to rain, the only option I see know is to use the rain intensity (>0) of the device of type "General" subtype "Custom Sensor". This because the response of the device of type "Rain" subtype "TFA" is too slow.
Does someone know if this device is the best choice for use as control of the window screens, or is there a better (more responsive) way to make the screens go up on the first detection of rain?

Re: Popp Z-Rain
It's "funny", 2.5 years later, I have the exact same question for this Popp Z-Rain within Domoticz... I just included this rain sensor and I don't know the meaning of these two switches ("General" and "Sensor"). It is so weird that we can't find the info from Popp in their user guide (https://manuals.zwave.eu/backend/make.p ... &type=popp)... I played with "fake rains" and I can't see either any change for these switches. "Water" info giving the total of water since installation (in mm) in the Weather tab and the "Rain Rate" (custom sensor, in mm/h) in Utility tab seem OK...
So, does someone know what these "General" and "Sensor" switches (off by default) indicate ?
Thank you in advance.
Regards.

Re: Popp Z-Rain
Hi!
I have the very same problem as well. The rain meter is no rain meter but a couple of switches....
Seems like some other guys have noticed the same and have some more ideas about it.
https://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopi ... 24&t=30742
Hope they are able to solve it.

Re: Popp Z-Rain
Just to give you a answer on the switch question(I know it is a old topic)
These two switches are on/off when:
It start raining, and the other switch is on when rain exceeds the "heavy rain threshold".
You can set the rain threshold manually in the Popp -z-rain settings. I have set it on 15mm/h
And next to these switches there is the actual rain data devices, which gives you the rain measurements
So, why are these 2 switches in the Popp Z-rain.
This is because Z-wave devices/switches can work even when Domoticz is down.
Than it is still possible to( for example) retract the sun screens automatically when it starts to rain or when heavy rain starts even when Domoticz is down. This is one of the strong point of z-wave devices.
