The app isnt working anymore here.... It keeps giving a server error, suggesting to check your settings.
I downloaded the latest beta: same issue. My Domoticz isn't the lastest and greatest. I tried that the other day and gave huge issues so I rolled that back... Could this be the cause?

Try connecting with the demo. Pre 2020.1 releases will probably not work anymore. The app has to keep up with the Domoticz releases...

I understand why you're not so eager to update everytime. I know the feeling, but staying too far behind will result in problems sooner or later. Maybe run a 2nd Domoticz for not compatible items (Z-Wave sometimes, ...).

I understand this point of view, but the previous Stable version, 4.10717 is not supported anymore (2020.2 is a bug fix update)?
If so - please make a note in the New Function that are with the new release in the Android Play Store so its easier to see what version this app is valid for.

For people with problems with this new version - it is always possible to download an older version at an APK mirror site ;)

This is a not possible for a lot of users who still have problems with the new 2020 Stables, mainly for Zwave reasons, you make it look too easy .......

As explained, I have emails now from people with Domoticz versions of 3 years back...

I CANT let the app work backwards compatible for like every Domoticz version that exists...
Im trying to help.. but the mobile app works against the latest Domoticz version..

Indeed if you dont want to update Domoticz... DONT update the apps either ;)

Option 1: Like I said, keep up to date (with Domoticz stable and with the Domoticz Android app). Yes, there will be a big chance that you will see issues with Open Z-Wave though...

Option 2: Start a second Domoticz (as slave) on a Pi with v4.10717 and use that for your Z-Wave devices. Not so difficult...

Option 3: Use the mobile web interface on your phone and lose a lot of extra's.

Option 4: Search for an older APK somewhere on the WWW and don't update the app ever again.

+1 one... still running 2 rocksolid domoticz instances and am using the paid version of the APP daily, which now fails since the last upgrade.
Fine that you need to move on, but when there is a decision not to guarantee backward compatibility, one would at least expect the last working to be available in some sort of way. :)
Thanks

I agree, I am unable to update at this time... but my app did update and I can't find the APK of the previous version for the PREMIUM version, I can only find the lite version.

Could you post the apk of the previous PREMIUM version so the ppl who can't (or don't want to) update can install that version?

Hi,

Recently 3 devices has been updated with version 0.2.213 coming from 0.2.202.
All 3 refused to connect with the server.

Running latest beta 2020.2, build 12017.
Authentication changed from Basic Auth. to Login Page.

Devices were able to connect, when I inserted the username/password in the corresponding fields for "Local server address". These fields were and still are marked "Optional".

Probably not optional, but mandatory?

Just tested with a VM version of domoticz 2020.1 and was unable to connect to http port 8080 when LAN is part of the trusted IP subnets. When I removed those en had to login with a UserName and Password, things started to work. So it really seems the basic functioning without UserID/Password isnt working anymore'in the latest version of the APP.

Hi, Jos

@jvdz

I did not remove the trusted networks, when I'm on local LAN, but got it to work by using the username/password. I looks like they use now the users as set in "More Options" > "Edit Users".
I think you are right.

True.. it now needs to authenticate via the logincheck api method.

So to combine it all
1) Update Domoticz
2) Set the authentication method to 'Login Page'
3) Use an username/ password for authenticating

Is there any documentation on how this "logincheck api method" works and what the app expect as conversation, without trying to distil it for the current GitHub source?

We call the /logincheck endpoint with md5 hashed password, and base64 hashed username as form-data in the POST call.
It returnes some json with info about the logged in user (rights, etc).

And it returns an authentication cookie.. and that cookie is then used for other connections instead of the username/password.
Until the cookie expires.. then we login again for a new cookie

Would be great if this new enforcement would have been mentioned... For the time being there is a work around to bypass the login enforcement on Android ;)
This is my review comment on the Android app:
Version of 5 may doesn't work properly with Domoticz 2020.1 (latest version of Jadahl for Synology). When opening the app it keeps searching for devices. However a long press on the app icon shows an option to go immediately to the dashboard or switches and using one of these methods the dashboard or switches are shown and you can control the devices..

This is in the paid version.
