MyDomoticz revisited

Post by chimit »

Pretty soon (this week), a new version of MyDomoticz is going to be online.
It's been a while since the latest update, because the code has been completely refactored.
The most important functional update is that users are now able to delete their account on their profile page.
For the rest, all pages now have a json interface, internally - with a yet-to-come oauth interface in mind.

We are alpha testing it now, and planning a release this week still. After that, new features (like IFTTT) can be worked on.
So stay tuned.

Grateful thanks for your patience in here.
Yesterday and today there has been construction work, mainly on the vanity hosts.
Which means that you might have experiences that MyDomoticz had to be restarted a couple of times.

In addition, the database now has been fully converted to support international character sets.
People that have non-latin characters in their names or instance descriptions, may want to update them now a finaly time, so they will be displayed correctly.

Hi Chimit,

Last week I completely revised my domoticz.
Today I thought it would be a good idea to join my.domoticz.
So I made an account donated some money and filled in the fields in Domotic settings.
After login the icon turns green and when I click it it is going to connect.
But all I get is a black screen where the name of domoticz is correct but no floorplans, switches nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Jan,

The first time, it will be loading the Domoticz app-cache once. You can see if that is happening in the console messages of your browser (F12).
There might be some other issue as well. Sometimes emptying your browser cache helps.
If that doesn't help either, PM me your api key or instance id so I can see if any requests are made to your domoticz.
if domoticz logs say "Incoming proxy connection from <your public ip address> then it means that the mydomoticz part is working.

Hi Jan,

We can reproduce the fact that when we use the loginpage protection of Domoticz, we are unable to get to the login page of Domoticz.
This is something that we will put on the list-to-resolve, so thank you for the report.

Hi Rene,

So I switched off the login for domoticz.
When I click the green icon, it goes shortly to my domoticz but immidiatly returns to the my.domoticz page.
Can I do something else to enter?

Dear all,

We just did an update to MyDomoticz regarding POST requests, like the one of the login page.
Thank you for reporting and all reports and suggestions keep being welcome.

Hi Rene,

Thanx for the update but I still cannot login.
After clicking the webpage opens and closes directly and is going back to MyDomoticz Dashboard.

That happens with or without password protection in Domoticz

We identified the issue being the following:

When the Domoticz login page is enabled, Domoticz redirects the user the a login page at the webroot.
In case you enter via MyDomoticz, the login page is not in the webroot anymore but at /my/<your instance key>.
Domoticz should be updated being able to use an alternative webroot, not just for Domoticz but also in case a local proxy server is used.

I will make notice of this on the Domoticz Github page.

There have been intermittent proxy restarts over the past few days.
Just trying to hunt down one or two bugs in yet-another-refactored version.

Hi there:)
Getting back to ask about mydomoticz support for mobile apps.
Is it still scheduled in the new version of the service? Last time I checked, it didn't work yet.

Hi Patoo,

True, it does not work yet. As stated a lot of refactoring has occurred meanwhile. Amongst others, this introduced http handler plugins, such as those needed for oauth and app api calls.
Yes, it is still scheduled for a new version of the service. But I'm reluctant to attach a due date to that. The domoproxy (as I call MyDomoticz) is something that I do in my free time, which I don't have a lot.

Cheers,

Rene

Yeah, I think all I would need is oauth support. :)
Is there any way I could help make it happen?

Yeah, I will need client-side testers at some point. For the most part, it's implemented already. Just needs to be finished up with more implementation details and a user interface to manage credentials online.

Hello

I'm trying to setup MyDomoticz and would need some help. I've created an account at my.domoticz.com, donated 5 EUR since I believe you're doing a great job :), obtained an API key and entered that API key and my password at my home domoticz instance. However, it doesn't seem to connect to my domoticz as I still can see no devices at my.domoticz.com, just the regular welcome screen.

In the domoticz logs at my Raspberry Pi I can find the following entry:

Code: Select all

2020-04-25 13:04:14.362 Error: No servers are configured. Hence mydomoticz will not be started either (if configured)
What can I do to make it work fine? :)
