2 issues with NEO PIR Motion Sensor

I have 2 issues with this sensor which is detected as a: Shenzhen Neo Electronics Co Ltd Battery Powered PIR Sensor V2+
The first one is that I can't turn off the red blinking when motion is detected. I can adjust it in the configuration, but it will still blink when motion is detected, even if the configuration states disabled. Is there another way to adjust this then only via the configuration screen?
The second is that the sensor seems to be out of range of the controller, but there is a powered z-wave switch in between , which to my knowledge should pickup the messages and forward them. So I'm wondering if the mesh is only working from a controller to powered devices to battery operated device and not the reverse way, so from battery powered to 230V powered to controller ?
