Using Google Home with Domoticz

Post by Trigun »

Hi Guys,

The following question has probably been asked many times but unfortunately there hasn't been a satisfying answer just yet.
Since a while now I have a Google home mini, in regards to Siri I can imagine having multiple GH mini's all over the house to use with domoticz.
reason for google home, the price is more interesting than having Apple Homepods all over the house :)

as for using the GH mini's, the only options I found were either using a subscription with Controllicz or using IFTTT+webhooks.
unfortunately both options are not what I am looking for as I would like to use it within my home network without having the need to access it via the internet. as for controllicz, I am not convinced this covers all my needs and the subscription thing is therefore not really working for me.

as for Siri, I installed Homebridge on my Rpi which functions great within my home network I am looking for a similar option for google assistant in combination with the Google Home Mini's.

has anyone an idea how to set this up?

Thanks in advance!

I have the same request. I want to switch a scene in Domiticz on and off by voice command using Google Assistant on my phone or my Google Home Mini, but only in the local network, so I don't want to use an application that requires my username and password. I just want an applet that triggers a local url command. I can do it manualy by entering the command url in a webbrowser, but I want an applet, so GA is doing it for me. Is there another way, besides the plugin, Controlicz or Webhook (via IFTTT)?

Try this: https://github.com/DewGew/Domoticz-Google-Assistant
Just say " Activate scene xxx" in google assistant
Raspberry Pi 3 | domoticz | Aeon Labs Z-Stick GEN5 | RFlink gateway
NanoPi NEO-air | REGO6XX interface | Machinon theme | Homebridge | Domoticz Google Assistant | ideAlarm

But there is still a third party that requires my username and password. That is what I want to avoid.

I opend another topic in the DIY section, about a Broadlink RM Pro device triggering scenes in Domoticz by a virtual switch or something like that. Hopefully that will be my solution.

Hi,

It is not clear for me at all what result you are looking for.
If it is to say a comment to activate some switches ... you can use for example philips hue (or similar like ikea) or ics2000 for Kaku : both will need a GH integration & activation. If it is just to let google home speak the chromecast pluging can do so for you.. All of these work without any subscription fee.

If you find something to do all without any google integration i am very curious as i was not able to find anything that directly makes the GH interact with domoticz.
Rpi & Win x64. Using : cam's,RFXCom, LaCrosse, RFY, HuE, google, standard Lua, Tasker, Waze traveltime, NLAlert&grip2+,curtains, vacuum, audioreceiver, smart-heating&cooling + many more (= automate all repetitive simple tasks)

You have to communicate to google cloud to use google assistant services. And you still have to open Broadlink RM Pro to internet.

https://github.com/DewGew/Domoticz-Google-Assistant this is a server between domoticz and google assistant service. That the closest i can get. Next is to build an own google home device like hoeby: https://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopi ... 69&t=25344

Maybe I was unclear by stating Domoticz has to be controlled by Google Home, but I want my KaKu devices being controlled by Google Home. So I need a device that can send a RF signal to my KaKu switches on request by using Google Home (the RM Pro should be able to do that because of the 433MHz transmitter or the ICS2000 because of the better implementation of KaKu). Something like Philips Hue does with it's bridge. The bridge gets the request from GH/GA and sends the correct signal to the correct lamp. That way I can still use Domoticz, but have another system runing next to it for the Google Home integration.

Hopefully this explanation is more clear. BTW, for Dutch people, you can answer me in Dutch is you prefer, because I am Dutch.

as for now I have a solution based on the following: https://about.gbridge.io/
this option will also allow you to use it without the need of a cloud feature(and therefore costs)

This might be what you're looking for:
https://github.com/i8beef/HomeAutio.Mqtt.GoogleHome

No cloud accounts needed and control domoticz with google home using MQTT.

as a receiver, the RFLink 433 Mhz KAKU receiver works fine with domoticz.

Any one has any good experience with this?
Want to run this on my Raspberry Pi 3B with Domoticz installation, is this possible?
If yes, what has to be done to implement this?
I can't figure out on how to install this application HomeAutio.Mqtt.GoogleHome.

Hi,

@daniellejorge,

Can you explain exactly what you expect from Domoticz and Google Home?

1. Only voice commands from the Google Home (Mini)?
2. Display Domoticz on the Google Nest Hub?
3. Are the devices, you want to control, natively supported by Google Assistant?
4. Do you have already support tools installed, such as MQTT and Node Red?

There are several posts available on this forum, covering different approaches.

The better you indicate your goal, the better someone can help you.
