I don't think the plugs are able to monitor usage, as least I'm not able to identify anything that looks like usage information in the data returned from the gateway...

Regards,
M
Ah too bad, but you can't read something out of a device that isn't monitored... :)

I can now build my Besta cabinet even further and will create a sort of 'nest' to put my tv in.
Above the TV I will install 3 Omlopp/Vaxmyra lights facing down behind the TV and will put them on the small LED driver which will be connected to the bigger LED driver.
Then, I will monitor the TV's power to create a rule; If TV = on > dim the lights above the TV to 10% or something but the rest of the cabinet kan stay on like 70%.

All this can finally work using this plugin. :D

Good night. I just installed the update and it seems to work again. I've left it for a while and now I get this in the log.

2020-01-06 19:58:32.564 Error: (IKEA Tradfri) Error updating device 65539: Connection time out
2020-01-06 20:03:22.514 Error: (IKEA Tradfri) Error updating device 65547: Connection time out
2020-01-06 20:16:05.782 Error: (IKEA Tradfri) Error updating device 65546: Connection time out
2020-01-06 20:24:05.503 Error: (IKEA Tradfri) Error updating device 65546: Connection time out
Glad it worked out! The plugin should handle intermittent connection timeouts, it just waits 10 seconds and then try to connect again. Since the requests to the gateway are blocking the domoticz plugin thread, the timeout are deliberately short, so only a small amount of network latency will trigger this error.

Are your raspberry and the gateway connected via WiFi? I'm running domoticz on an old MacMini, with both the gateway and server connected via wired ethernet, and on this setup, timeouts are extremely rare... But as long as you're able to control the devices, it should be all right!

Regards,
M
raspberry and gateway are connected by ethernet.

hi,
got a couple of IKEA devices up and running with zigbee2mqtt, like dimmer and bulbs. But I also have a symfonik E1744(button/dimmer). This device is supported in Zigbee2mqtt and see actions in the log. In domoticz the logs this device is not supported, any idea if this correct, is there a way to get it added to domoticz.

I want to use this device for play/pause and volume up/down

2020-01-09 23:18:51.655 (Zigbee) MQTT message: zigbee2mqtt/draaiknop {'linkquality': 57, 'rate': 195, 'brightness': 128, 'battery': 74, 'action': 'rotate_stop'}
2020-01-09 23:18:51.656 (Zigbee) Unsupported zigbee device type with model "E1744"

Any suggestions is appreciated

Thx

Hi all, pretty long time reader, first post. Been a happy Domoticz user for a bunch years, started with KaKu, now trying to move over to Tradfri, with the Gateway.

I'm a Pi amateur/enthusiast, not a fluent terminal user.

I've been able to successfully follow steps 1-3a in this manual ( https://github.com/moroen/IKEA-Tradfri- ... /README.md) Though I keep getting the error below trying step 4: Using this command $ python3 tradfricoap.py config IP KEY ( replacing IP and Key with my local details).

Code: Select all

admin@pi:~/domoticz/plugins/IKEA-Tradfri $ sudo python3 tradfricoap.py config IP KEY
ERROR: Connection timed out
Any tips on what I need to do differently? ( All devices are on the same network)

Extra info

- I wrote key key like it's written on the gateway : ###-##-### (using "-")
- Gateway is Ping-able

Thanks a lot for all resources & Work!

Good night. With the problem that appears in the Log, the database is growing a lot. Before installing the plugin it had a size of 5.28Mb and now I am at 19Mb and growing. Is it possible what I comment?

Unfortunately I have similar issues. After installation (VM debian 9) I get the following error in the Domoticz-log:

2020-01-12 13:08:36.090 Error: TRADFRI-gateway hardware (22) thread seems to have ended unexpectedly
I tried several times to reinstall the plugin. I have pycoap version 0.6.3:

Code: Select all

Requirement already satisfied: pycoap>=0.6.3 in /home/<user>/.local/lib/python3.5/site-packages (from -r requirements.txt (line 2)) (0.6.3)
python3 tradfricoap.py list gives me:

Code: Select all

65537: TRADFRI bulb (0 - None)
65536: TRADFRI remote control (None - None)
I am not using this on a regular pi, so I have another user-account. I did have some issues using pip3, but adding the --user parameter works. This seems to be a known issue regarding the update of pip3.

Any help is appreciated.

This is easy to follow, yet I do get stuck on this command:

Code: Select all

sudo -H pip3 install -r requirements-pi.txt
I run the command from the IKEA-Tradfri folder, it seems there's no requirements-pi.txt file. There is a requirements.txt file though that is able to execute.
When trying this again.

Code: Select all

python3 tradfricoap.py config IP KEY
It says connection timed out (again).

File should look like this:
https://github.com/moroen/IKEA-Tradfri- ... ements.txt

Perhaps not the best way but how about deleting the plug-in folder and get a fresh pull from GitHub?
That way you can make sure you receive a recent version...

I don't know why you get so many timeouts, but with so many of them, I agree that this message perhaps is more of a nuisance than helpful, as long as the plugin just chugs along anyway. In the next version that gets committed to the repo, this message will have it's priority changed to "debug", so that it won't fill up the logs during normal operations!

M

The error you're getting shows that pycoap is installed and working, it just can't connect to the gateway. 9 out of 10 times, the timeout is due to either wrong IP or wrong KEY...

In your case, in light of being able to ping the gateway, it appears that you're using the wrong key. You need to use the security code, I don't think the security code contains "-", I might be wrong though...

I would like to thank sancla for a really nice guide for installing the plugin on a Pi!

I'll like to point out though, that this is very much a work in progress, and even though I try to avoid breaking changes when committing a new version, things are bound to change, and at the moment functionality is prioritized over backwards compatibility. I plan on releasing some kind of "stable beta" when support for curtains have been added, which should be any day now, since I finally got my hands on a kadrilj curtain, and have preliminary support working...

Anyway, as you have correctly noted, there no longer is a separate requirements file for PI, so using the requirements.txt file is correct:

Code: Select all

$ sudo -H pip3 install -r requirements.txt
As previously noted, 9 of of 10 times the Connection time out is either due to a wrong IP or a wrong KEY...

ahhhh guys I feel stupid. In my excitement, I interpreted the Homekit code, - with the dashes - as security code.

I'm Up and running! Thanks a lot for the support, very welcoming.

If these days, I have some more time. I will try to do some tests. 1º Try another raspberry with another SSD, but with the same .img. If 2nd new switch does not work for raspberry and gateway only. 3rd New installation of Raspbian buster, domoticz and plugin. I leave something?

Well, that should pretty much cover it, though I would recommend using something else than a Raspberry for domoticz. Just about any model NUC with some kind of SSD would be vastly superior... :ugeek:

There's a new version of the plugin available in the master branch, version 0.7.0.

Most notable changes:
- Support for Tradfri Curtains
- Less noise in the logs, including changed priority of "Connection Timeout Errors" to debug, and state changes written to the individual device logs only when state actually has changed, not on every poll.
- (Hopefully) fix for a rare occurrence where all the groups contained the same devices
- (Hopefully) fix where domoticz just dies when encountering a read or write timeout from the gateway (pycoap)

Please note that a updated version of pycoap is needed (0.7.0), upgrade with:

Code: Select all

$ sudo -H pip3 install -U -r requirements.txt

Good morning, the first test that was with another raspberry and another ssd, continues to do the same. I sign up about the Nuc that I have one at home to try. I have seen that you have made an update. I'm a rookie with Linux ... First I update Pycoap and then how should I update your plugin?

I tried several times to reinstall the plugin. I have pycoap version 0.6.3:

Code: Select all

Requirement already satisfied: pycoap>=0.6.3 in /home/<user>/.local/lib/python3.5/site-packages (from -r requirements.txt (line 2)) (0.6.3)
python3 tradfricoap.py list gives me:

Code: Select all

65537: TRADFRI bulb (0 - None)
65536: TRADFRI remote control (None - None)
I am not using this on a regular pi, so I have another user-account. I did have some issues using pip3, but adding the --user parameter works. This seems to be a known issue regarding the update of pip3.

Any help is appreciated.
I installed the new version. I now have pycoap-0.7.0 installed. Unfortunately the error in the domoticz-log remains after restarting.
Any help is very appreciated.

:ugeek:

Good morning, the first test that was with another raspberry and another ssd, continues to do the same. I sign up about the Nuc that I have one at home to try. I have seen that you have made an update. I'm a rookie with Linux ... First I update Pycoap and then how should I update your plugin?
The easiest way to update is:

Code: Select all

$ sudo systemctl stop domoticz.service # if service is running
$ cd domoticz/plugins/IKEA-Tradfri
$ git pull
$ sudo -H pip3 install -U -r requirements.txt
$ sudo systemctl start domoticz.service
Then you get both the latest version of the plugin (with git pull) and latest version of pycoap (with sudo -H pip3...).

Actually, I recommend starting domoticz from the command line the first time after a upgrade, and after verifying that the new version works, restart the domoticz.service...

Regards,
M
