Floorplan 3D

Post by Domotibart »

I use domoticz for some years now, mainly for automating light curtains and temperature. When i want to manipulate lights or temperature i gat my tablet and do the adjustments.
I am playing with the idea of mounting a screen somewhere in the house so that you can monitor and switch some lights. I want it to look fancy and user friendly.
To investigate what is the best solution a made a 3D floorplan to see if this might work. I already made a 3D model of my house in sketchup. This is the start of my 3D floorplan. I found out that x3dom can make a 3D html.
I made a first attemt of my house with some lights that can ben switched on an off by clicking on them. Now i need to find out how i can link the domoticz switches to my 3D html. I hope somebody can give me some clues becoude i am a programming NOOB.
I put my 3D design online so you can see what i am trying to do. http://grootb.cmshost.nl/huis3d.html
First time load can take a while so please be patient. I also found out that a tablet might be to slow for the rendering of the page.

Wow, thats a big file to render!
I like your idea, and it looks cool! You should look into hosting it on your domoticz machine and running pass2php. It supports an interface between domoticz and a php interface to a custom webpage floorplan you create. I've been trying to do just that, but pass2php is waaaay over my head and a nighmare to setup. I have no php experience and ended up frazzled and frustrated after a long week and had to give up! But it is a super cool and powerful and FAST interface if you can get it running. Good luck; I really think that setup would meet your needs. Keep us posted on your progress! I'm certain others would love to see the final product as well! Good luck!

A small update,

Indeed the file is big,but once its completely opened it now runs smooth. Also on my ipad. I removed all the light calculations, this was a bit too much for my ipad. It is much more responsive now. Als clicking on and off the lights responds better.
next step is connectiong the lights to domoticz. I am reading into x3dom and it should be possible to use json. Unfortunately i have no programming skills so i am looking for an example to see how to do this.

Update;
I found out how to interface with domoticz using JSON. After a few hours i found out how to get all the relevant data from domoticz and also send dat to domoticz. I now can switch on and off lights just by clicking on the 3d floorplan. I also can show all the room temperatures is the 3d floorplan.
It is beginning to look like i want it to.
