Did you see this ? Too complicated for me but I am not much of a hardware guy.

hello,

Wow that looks interesting butt way to complicated, good last resort. Butt i was thinking about " MCP23017 I2C Interface 16bit I/O" because it has the capability to read in analog value's. Butt is domoticz capable to use the analog value's from the I/O extender.

Kest,

Have a look into a NodeMCU and easpeasy, a few euro's and running within 30 min.

True, butt everything is within 4 meters of the RPI.

I have 2 Nodemcu within 1 meter of my RP.

In the past I have blown 2 Nodemcu due to a thinking / connection failure. Me making a mistake.
Just grabbed a new Nodemcu, changed the wiring and back in bussiness. With the 6 euro on the Nodemcu the smile didn't dissapear.

Make a mistake with your RP is different koek.
So, my view... messing around with the GPIO might hurt the RP hardware which I like to avoid by using the Nodemcu.
I like the galvanic isolation so much....

my 2 cents..
