I am going to follow this topic as I also want to monitore my ponds temperature and later ORP too.
Ps. impressive pond you are going to build! I have a 21m3 Koi pond which i control with Domoticz.

The amalgaam is simply controlled by a Domoticz timer. Everything in the pond is controlled by Figaro switches.
They can standard monitor the usage. It is working now for a year and can say it is a stable and good functioning system.
I use Z-wave as protocol.
