PIR with mesh facility (or wired together)

I have a pretty unique problem. I have a corridor with my front door at one end and my back door at the other, and this connects into the rest of the house by a door. The walls are over 600mm thick ironstone and make a very effective faraday cage so the only part of the corridor that can 'see' my wifi network is by the connecting door. The corridor is very dark so we need the lights on, and we did have a very successful setup using BBSB celining switches and two BBSB PIR units, but they have both died and are no longer available. We'd also like to integrate this with the rest of the house for security reasons. So we need a PIR that works with Domoticz via the RFCOM433 or via the WiFi in the house. One PIR will be in range of the WiFi but the other will not be.
I was thinking of using the new Sonoff r3 mini as the switching device as that will allow me to use the light switches as well, but this is not important.
What I think I need is a pair of PIR devices that communicate with each other and also communicate via either 433MHz or will join a WiFi network (or both) - do such things exist?
Otherwise, could I wire two PIRs in paralell and just have one communicate with the house?

Has anyone come up with a solution to this or a similar problem?

Maybe not what you are looking for, but z-wave devices could be you solution i guess.
They create a mesh network. Another option could be to add an WiFi repeator in your corridor maybe?

I've never had much success with wifi repeaters in general, and in the corridor we are really short of space - basically everything needs to be attached to the ceiling! I'll look at z-wave, but that is yet another protocol - I already have BBSB, LightwaveRF and Sonoff - (though I have retired all my X10 stuff now.)
